Russia was thrown a bone by its inclusion in order to encourage free markets and integration into the West. It didn't merit it on its economic power. Being dumped did not and does not prevent it from improving relations with the rest of the world, but it has does anything but.
In recent days, Putin has strengthened his ties to the Iran terror regime.
If he wants back in, let him earn it. Meanwhile, almost 4 months after Inauguration and he's done nothing to end his invasion of Ukraine.
(Why President Trump would suggest adding China at this point in time when we are engaged in a trade war is beyond me. AFTER we come to terms, that's a different matter.)
.....President Trump began the Group of Seven (G7) summit Monday in Canada by arguing it was a mistake to kick Russia out of the organization more a decade ago....
He’s right!
He's delusional. Putin's war isn't about money, it's about power. And readmitting him now would just be seen (and rightfully so) as contemptible weakness.
By some measures, Russia has a larger GDP than Germany
When Western Governments measure and report Russian GDP, a country they are at war with, in a sanctioned currency, it becomes an exercise in propaganda and bullish**
The warmongers will be calling for Trump’s impeachment now.
Good points. Thanks.
Good for him, he’s right!
“”””almost 4 months after Inauguration and he’s done nothing to end his invasion of Ukraine.”””
President Trump has worked very hard to end a war he wasn’t involved in starting. Your ire should be pointed at the little Castro wannabe who buys his clothes at the GI Joe doll store.
Yet he wants Putin to broker a whatever between Israel and Iran?? Really??? Just don’t get it.
Trump wants to do personal business in China, the world’s largest economy as measured by PPI.
Actually I don’t think Canada is top 7.
Didn’t they let Russia in, then kick them out so they could freeze their assets?
How do you count wealth? How do you count power? Can power be counted as wealth? If so, Russia should be part of this group. They have many nukes, control many political puppet states, and exert their influence globally. They should have a chair.
At the same time Trump makes these comments the US cancels scheduled talks with Russia on normalizing relations.
This administration’s foreign policy is at best, dysfunctional.
India is not part of the G7, and it’s the 3rd largest economy in the world…soon to be 3rd largest.
“Russia in 2022 launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine”
The big lie. Russia was most definitely provoked by the ukes getting cozy with NATO
Trump had an excellent point. I know you may not agree. Perhaps India and Brazil ought to be brought in, too. But Russia has/had great potential.
And in Putin’s interview with Tucker Carlson, you can tell Vladmir was still miffed about his country being shunted out of the gathering.
There was promise for that country in the wake of the collapse of the Iron Curtain. And the west seems to have let that promise die. Not good.
Regarding China its more then a trade war but not yet a shooting war. For example, they rob us blind of IP, buy up property in shall we say odd locations, they have counter-Intel centers in cities and at major universities to identify and put pressure on dissidents like that traditional Chinese dance troupe, they bribe politicians, honey trap them, dangle money in front of corporations to influence their behavior. They recently passed a law requiring a China visa holders to cooperate with MSS - Chinese intelligence.
Trump needs to suspend the visas of all PRC visa holders for at least one year! Not continue to play kissy face with them!
