‘Tasteless’: NYC Tears Down Statue Of Thomas Jefferson, Erects 12-foot Statue of 'Overweight Black Woman'

New York City previously tore down a historic Thomas Jefferson statue only to now erect a 12-foot bronze statue of an "overweight black woman," which many blasted as “tasteless” and more.

The statue is called “Grounded in the Stars” and was unveiled on Wednesday in Times Square, created by artist Thomas J. Price. The artist's “Man Series,” a stop motion animation, will also appear nightly throughout May on the district’s billboards, providing a “two-part takeover” in the district that “amplifies traditionally marginalized bodies on a monumental scale," per the Times Square website.

Price said, per the Times Square site.

“Times Square stands as an iconic symbol and site of convergence, uniting people from all walks of life, individual stories, and experiences intersecting on a global platform. The intention of my public works is to become part of the place they inhabit and its physical, material history, as well as the visitors that pass through and around the location, no matter how fleeting. I hope ‘Grounded in the Stars’ and ‘Man Series’ will instigate meaningful connections and bind intimate emotional states that allow for deeper reflection around the human condition and greater cultural diversity.”

Times Square called the “pose of the woman’s body and ease of her stance” in the statue a “subtle nod to Michelangelo’s David” and that it “confronts preconceived notions of identity and representation.”

It was comments like how the statue provides a “stark contrast" to the two current Times Square statues of “white men” on pedestals that got social media users upset.

“In 2021, NYC removed a statue of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall due to ‘racism,’” one person wrote on X. “The city has now erected a huge statue of a rotund woman in Times Square. So, we’re taking down monuments to people who accomplished some of the greatest feats in human history, from which we are all still benefiting, and instead honoring random people who have zero notable contributions. Doomed.”

Another person added, “Another tasteless statue of a generic contemporary woman, this one in the middle of Times Square, meant to ‘respond’ to the other ‘statues of men.’ This is not ‘public art.’ It is untalented, uninspired promotion of tired culture war propaganda that defaces public space."

While The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh continued, “They tear down statues of American heroes and replace them with statues of random obese black women. That’s because the Left has no historical heroes. Everyone who was born before approximately 2005 is inherently problematic.”

OutKick noted that one of those two white men statues honors World War I hero, Father Francis Duffy. The other George C. Cohan, who’s regarded as the man who “created Broadway.”

“The Times Square Arts association admits its new 12-foot bronze statue of an overweight black woman is supposed to serve as a 'contrast' to the two white men who have statues in the neighborhood. One of those white men was a distinguished WWI hero,” the post read.

President Donald Trump recently signed an Executive Order to “review “the “improper” removal of statues over the last five years by radicals on the left, RedState reported.

If you're looking for the red meat issue that's almost certain to make liberals pull their hair out, it'd be the section of this new executive order that directs Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum to review and "restore" any "public monuments, memorials, statues, markers, or similar properties" that may have been improperly removed in the past five-plus years.

A White House fact sheet states that their removal or any subsequent changes made to alter them were designed "to perpetuate a false revision of history or improperly minimize or disparage certain historical figures or events."

Leticia James, Fanni Willis, Stacy Abrams, Jasmine Crockett... these are the ones society elevates and honors today. Rude, self-centered, angry, overweight, entitled black female sociopaths with no class. Godly people of all colors need to take a stand against this form of evil pride. And at the same, ironically, these are the people targeted by the Planned Parenthood/ Margaret Sanger eugenicist campaign. Were the taxpayers hooked for this stupidity? Wow is this post-Christian society screwed up.

One of those "white men" is George Cohan, a dominant figure in NYC's entertainment world early in the last century who was known for his patriotism. Two of his most famous songs were You're a Grand Old Flag and Yankee Doodle Boy. But from the perspective of our era of wokeness, that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, far away.

Looks like a skank 'ho with no meaningful accomplishments, a welfare check, and lots of "attitude" to compensate for the general vacuousness of her life.

Or a nasty local radical AG who focuses on her inner hatred rather than serving her constituents.

Letitia James lacks meaningful accomplishments, gets her money from the government, and “cops a ‘tude” to compensate for the utter vacuousness of her life.

I don’t know if she’s an actual ‘ho. I do know that I wouldn’t “do” her with my worst enemy’s eggplant ... much less my own.

The Times Square Alliance is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and is governed by a large, voluntary Board of Directors.

Times Square Arts, the public art program of the Times Square Alliance, collaborates with contemporary artists and cultural institutions to experiment and engage with one of the world’s most iconic urban places. Through the Square’s electronic billboards, public plazas, vacant areas and popular venues, and the Alliance’s own online landscape, Times Square Arts invites leading contemporary creators to help the public see Times Square in new ways. Times Square has always been a cultural district and place of risk, innovation and creativity, and the arts program ensures these qualities remain central to the district’s unique identity.

Visitors and residents of Times Square have a new piece of artwork on view these days: a 12-foot-tall sculpture of a woman, titled Grounded in the Stars, stands at Broadway and 46th Street.

The bronze sculpture is the brainchild of London-based figurative artist Thomas J Price (Jamaican father / English mother). By creating the fictional character, Price aimed to encapsulate the observations, images, and open calls of New York, Los Angeles, and London.

The sculpture of the young woman is just one of Price’s works for onlookers to observe as they pass through the iconic area. Throughout May, Price’s stop-motion animation Man Series will be featured on over 90 billboards. The multi-channel presentation is part of the world’s largest digital public art initiative, Midnight Moment, and passersby can catch the nightly presentation on screens from 11:57 p.m. to 12 a.m.

“I hope Grounded in the Stars and Man Series will instigate meaningful connections and bind intimate emotional states that allow for deeper reflection around the human condition and greater cultural diversity.”

Grounded in the Stars is supported by the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Foundation, Morgan Stanley, the New York State Council on the Arts, public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the City Council, and the Times Square Edition Hotel. The sculpture will be on display through June 17.

The usual Suspects involved behind the scenes...
