President Trump hosted Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the White House this week, and again floated his idea to make Canada “the 51st state,” to which Carney replied, “There are some places that are never for sale.”
Trump’s reply to that was, “Time will tell.”
This insulting idea that one country can simple “acquire” another one–even if that country is not interested in being acquired–has become almost casual standard operating procedure for President Trump, and though Democrats / liberal-Leftists are generally appalled by it; strangely, I don’t see much pushback from Republicans / conservatives.
Instead, I hear excuses such as this is Trump’s “Art of the Deal.” In other words, it’s just his long-known negotiating strategy of asking for something outrageous, then tamping down his demands to get a more “reasonable” deal.
The problem with this understanding of Trump’s supposed goals, is that it appears that in the case of acquiring other nations in a “hostile takeover” manner, this IS the desired goal. And if it isn’t, why would he risk the obvious blowback and global destabilization by making these kinds of statements?
As an example, Canadian Prime Minister Carney may very well owe his recent victory (succeeding the unpopular Justin Trudeau) to Trump’s “51st state” comments. The People of Canada could have had a much more freedom-minded leader, and America could have had a much better neighbor.
Even worse than the Canada statements, Trump has been saying for some time that he will take Greenland “one way or the other.” That clearly implies a military possibility. Yet Greenland is owned by Denmark, who has no plans to let the island go. Here Trump is again (sharply) upping the global uncertainty.
I don’t know why I have to be one of the few conservatives to actually say this...

Not going to happen unless First Nations agree.
They hold all the cards.
It’s also not going to happen unless a MAJORIT of Albertans agree to separation. It will be incumbent that the ‘Freedom’ side explains to Albertans, the fact that $70 Billion MORE goes to d’Ottawa, each and every year, than returns from d’Ottawa.
AFA the ‘First Nations’, what needs to be pointed out, is that GouvFedCan has failed them miserably, for decades! Problems with SAFE drinking water on Reserves CONTINUES, even after 30 YEARS of problems! Just look at the Neskantaga First Nation in Northern Ontario! They had water problems in 1995, that continue TO THIS DAY! True-dolt promised during SEVERAL ELECTIONS, to fix this problem. It still exists! Of course, we all know that Lieberals LIE! That is their PRINCIPAL TALENT!
Let us not forget Indian Oil and Gas Canada (IOGC)! Few, if any Bands manage their own oil and gas reserves. FedGouvCan CONTROLS MOST O&G on First Nations Reserves! Sure, their Head Office is in Calgary BUT in the end, they take direction from d’Ottawa! And who is now Crime Minister of Canaduh? That evil climate zealot, ‘net zero champion’, Marx Carnage! Do First Natiins people REALLY want Carney shutting in their O&G wells?
The pro-Freedom side HAS TO explain these issues WELL to First Nations people, before Carnage enacts C-63, thereby squelching what LITTLE freedom of speech remains in this country! They have to START NOW and keep talking UP TO THE TIME OFVTHE REFERENDUM!
All we need is a new bilateral free trade agreement that excludes Mexico, and a superhighway connecting the I5 to Alaska. Canada should have pegged its dollar when it had parity.
