The Smiley-Faced Fascism of Today’s Whistle Dog Army

History’s lessons are brutal: movements cloaked in moral fervor, crushing dissent with righteous fists, collapse into chaos. Mussolini’s Brownshirts stormed Jewish shops and beat “traitors” to enforce Fascist unity; Mao’s Red Guards humiliated professors and torched books to purify China’s soul. Today, in March 2025, we see a chilling parallel—Tesla dealerships firebombed, Cybertrucks vandalized, owners hounded. This isn’t mere protest; it’s a “whistle dog army,” as I call it, unleashed against Elon Musk’s wealth and Trump ties, echoing the thuggish zeal of Brownshirts and the cultural purge of Red Guards. Rooted in decades of Democratic centralization, this smiley-faced fascism—Jonah Goldberg’s term—thrives on federal power. The antidote? Slash the government and return control to the states.

Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism nails it: liberalism’s authoritarian streak—state-driven, collectivist, intolerant—masks itself as progress. Over 16 years of Democratic dominance (Obama’s eight, Biden’s four-plus), they built a machine: a sprawling bureaucracy, NGOs preaching equity, unions wielding “justice,” academia enforcing speech codes. Even out of power, it rolls on, its cultural Brownshirts—cancel culture, allyship tests—patrolling discourse. The Tesla attackers, scrawling “Nazi” on shattered glass, are no accident. They’re primed by elite rhetoric—Pressley’s “in the streets,” Crockett’s “punch” Musk—a dog whistle straight from the playbook of Ernst Röhm’s SA, who terrorized under Hitler’s nod. I’ve felt it up close: a colleague, brilliant at her craft, turned venomous when, as a Christian, I wasn’t an “ally” to her LGBT cause. Her hatred mirrored a Red Guard’s glare—ideology over merit, purity over reason.

The correlation is stark. Brownshirts didn’t need detailed orders; they sensed the Reich’s will and smashed accordingly—shopkeepers bled, dissenters vanished. Mao’s Red Guards, barely teens, dragged “capitalist roaders” to struggle sessions, their violence sanctioned by Beijing’s silence. Today’s whistle dogs wield Molotovs and Twitter mobs, doxxing and canceling with a modern twist. Tesla owners aren’t just targeted; they’re publicly shamed, like Mao’s professors paraded in dunce caps. The Democratic elite—Pelosi mute, Jeffries dodging—don’t orchestrate each strike, but their 16-year legacy of vilifying wealth and power set the stage. X posts from @VDHanson or @WallStreetSilv scream Soros funding, and while proof’s thin, the vibe’s undeniable: a cultivated army, misled fascists thinking they’re saviors.

This is Goldberg’s point—liberalism’s smile hides a fist. The Brownshirts saw themselves as patriots; Red Guards as revolutionaries. Today’s zealots call Musk a fascist, justifying firebombs as resistance, blind to their own jackboot echo. Historically, this ends badly. Fascist Italy bred war and ruin; Mao’s Cultural Revolution left millions dead, its zealots turning on each other. Pointing this mirror—“you’re the fascists”—to these whistle dogs fails; they’re too righteous to see. The machine churns on federal fuel—agencies, grants, mandates—amplifying the whistle from D.C.’s towers.

Downsizing government cuts the cord. Musk’s DOGE, gutting budgets and bureaucracy, starves the beast—defunds NGOs, weakens unions, silences the cultural commissars. The Brownshirts needed Berlin’s cash; Red Guards thrived on Mao’s centralized edicts. Strip that power, and the army falters—no payroll, no orders. Returning control to the states doubles down. The Founders designed it: 50 states, not one monolith, diffuse power and protect freedom. Texas and Florida already shrug off speech codes and cancel mobs—local rule lets them. California can chase its equity gods; Idaho can guard liberty. Real democracy isn’t D.C.’s dogma—it’s states choosing their paths, not bowing to a federal whistle.

Centralized power always feeds these fires. Italy’s Fascists leaned on Rome; Mao’s chaos needed Beijing. Today’s Democratic machine, built over decades, thrives on federal bloat—agencies like the DOJ or Education Department, once tools of progress, now echo chambers for the smiley-faced creed. Shrink them, and the whistle weakens. Empower states, and the army scatters—no unified tune to march to. Tesla’s attackers are pawns of a bigger game; the disease is the system. History says it ends in blood or ash unless checked. Downsizing and decentralization aren’t just fixes—they’re the lifeline to freedom, snatching democracy back from the Brownshirts and Red Guards of our time.

Yes. A few casualties today, a few fatalities tomorrow should improve the behavior of survivors!
