Are two of the most dangerous volcanoes in the entire world starting to wake up? We live at a time when seismic activity is on the rise all over the planet. More than three dozen volcanoes have recently erupted, and there have been more than 850 earthquakes in California and Nevada within the past seven days. Unfortunately, most people are not taking the threat that we are facing seriously.
(snip)
Thankfully, seismologists do not expect Yellowstone to erupt right now.

In the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, a much larger and potentially catastrophic threat looms beneath the ground—Campi Flegrei, the most dangerous supervolcano in Europe. Over the past year, a surge in seismic activity has sent shockwaves—literally and figuratively—through the region, fueling fears of an impending eruption. With over two million people living in the potential blast zone, the question is no longer if this sleeping giant will wake up, but when.
The Campi Flegrei supervolcano covers an area of 77 square miles, and one expert is publicly warning that it could potentially “erupt at any moment”…

It’s not overdue.
It will arrive exactly at the right time.
Right!?
She and David Hogg should hook up, they deserve each other.
Well, I’ll just wear an N95 mask then…
and use a snowblower.
WARNING: the preceding comments NOT intended for the satirically-challenged freerepublic peruser.
I think me and the wife unit will visit Yellowstone for the last time before it blows up. The Tetons are beautiful as always.
I’m ready.
Hope it holds on until we visit, for the first time.
And get under your desk!
The article contradicts headline. More fear porn from Michael Snyder.
What would the author have us do?
A micro-nova from the sun which results in a pole flip would do far more damage than these two volcanos. Evidence suggests this has happened with regularity on 6000-12000 year time schedules, we are due now for another.
Okay class Understanding Supervolcanoes may be the last thing you learn.
This author is famous for his “Doom Porn”.
The human race has had to deal with natural
disasters all our lives. I’m 69 years old and due to military service and my choice of places to live
I’ve been through about every Natural disaster there is.
I’ve developed a set of rules about my residences.
And more importantly when to listen to the government and when to go my own way.
Not everybody can do this( they could if they’d quit electing Democrats.)
Minimum lot size of 5 acres. Houses at least 200 feet apart.
USA has a lot of land, It can be done.
Metal/ceramic roofs and fire breaks surrounding homes.
I grew up in Trac housing, I hated it.
As we have seen in Maui just how bad it can be when life happens.
I know Democrats hate the concept of free people
doing as they see fit. That is why they like cities so much. A form of a prison, with the illusion of freedom.
Excerpts from the keywords, sorted:
Yellowstone is fortunately in a mostly uninhabited area. So the immediate kill zone would be inconsequential in the big picture. However, the ash cloud would spread east with prevailing winds. Ash eats mechanical as a snack, and that has been seen when airplanes flying thru dust clouds lose their engines. Go look at pictures of cars in WA state when St Helens blew. The airfilter getups on some of them made them look like cousins of swamp buggies. From a human standpoint, we would not be wearing covid masks, we would be wearing rebreathers, and having the change the filters several times a day. Crops in the ground across the center of the ash cloud would be lost for this season, and probably next. Livestock would suffer greatly. As the ash cloud circled the earth, it would eventually cover the globe with fine particulate, and that in turn would reflect back a portion of the sun, lowering temperatures around the globe. This could become an event to usher a new ice age, but not necessarily. It would take several years for it to clear completely, and during that time summers would be cooler, winters would be harsher and shoulder seasons would be wetter.
Hell just creating more space for newcomers.
How are houses 200 feet apart on a minimum lot size of 5 acres?
Nuttiest narrow tracting and no one would buy them or build them to begin with.
You should buy now before it becomes beachfront.
I used to have a neighbor that said she and some friends got into a moderate amount of trouble for hitting golf balls at a seismic recorder near Mt. Saint Helens
My nearest neighbors house is over 200 feet away.
I can and have put houses on five acres and never
had a problem.
I’m happy you are not my neighbor!
If you can afford 5 or more acres in Hawaii,
you can afford privacy.
