During the National Prayer Service for President Donald Trump at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, the Episcopal Bishop delivering her prayer called on Trump to show "mercy" to those "who are scared now," specifically those who identify as LGBTQ or are illegal immigrants. Her service sounded more like a missive for a dying nation than a celebration of a new leader.
The Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde called repeatedly for "unity" in America as Trump's term begins, though she seemed to be talking more to Trump directly than to any of his opponents. Budde said that it is "incumbent upon us to speak the truth" as she called for a "commitment to unity that incorporates diversity." Two of Trump's first executive orders eliminated diversity, equity and inclusion programs at the federal level and reversed Biden's gender orders, bringing biological reality and common sense back to policy on women, girls, and education.
"Let me make one final plea, Mr. President," Budde said, "Millions have put their trust in you and as you told the nation yesterday you have felt the providential hand of a loving God. In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now.
"There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families, some who fear for their lives," she went on. "And the people, the people who pick our crops and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meatpacking plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals, they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors. They are faithful members of our churches and mosques, synagogues, wadara, and temples. I ask you to have mercy, Mr. President, on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away."
"And that you help those who are fleeing war zones and persecution in their own lands to find compassion and welcome here," Budde went on. "Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger, for we were all once strangers in this land. May God grant us the strength and courage to honor the dignity of every human being, to speak the truth to one another in love and ot walk humbly with one another and out God for the good of all people, for the good of all people in this nation and the world." She concluded with an Amen.
She added in the speech that there has been too much contempt in the country and that disagreements have become too harsh. Budde’s about page describes her as “an advocate and organizer in support of justice concerns, including racial equity, gun violence prevention, immigration reform, the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ persons, and the care of creation.”
Trump responded to the speech, asking the press, "What did you think?" and added that it was "not too exciting."
In June 2020, Budde previously said, "We need to replace President Trump," amid the George Floyd protests when she was asked what her message to Trump was. The Washington National Cathedral was used for the interfaith event and Budde was chosen as one of the religious figures who would preach to Trump as well as other political figures.
I’d pay to have Pastor Lorenzo Sewell open a church in DC. Invite the bishop to the service.
The Sermon: “White liberal women need immigrants to clean their houses, mow their lawn and pick their crops. The Democrat party hasn’t changed since 1850.”
Both Trump and Vance should have walked out. Heres the thing though, why did they attend a service knowing that it was going to be conducted by a radical?
She looks very happy with herself in that Halloween costume.
Does that female “bishop” have no concern for Christians and others who have been persecuted and labeled as “bigots” by powerful “gay” and “trans” activists?
Remember Anita Bryant!
Remember thousands of ordinary Christians, who have been pushed out of their parishes and church bodies by “gay” activists. These activists have coopted parishes, dioceses, and whole church bodies, turning them into “Stonewall Central”!
This was all done in the name of “inclusion”, but it really amounted to massive exclusion!
“but then again it’s the Episcopalians...”

They should call themselves Liberalpalians.
Except by not walking out you are sanctioning this kind of rhetoric.
Oh barf!
Who cares? Really. This bishop is irrelevant. The Episcopal Church in the US is irrelevant. She doesn’t even deserve a response. One has been given time after time before. She can read up on it.
I’m surprised Trump did not know much about pisscaples.
They babtize with unholy piss water and homoluv.
He knows now.
(spelingpurposeful)
In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now.
The context to me is a demand for mercy. Try demanding mercy from God.
What? Why on earth didn't she include covens in that list? What ever happened to diversity?
And for that matter, what is a "wadara"? Google says it's a tree or a hiding place for aquarium fish or a town in the Ivory Coast.
“Does that female “bishop” have no concern for Christians and others who have been persecuted and labeled as “bigots” by powerful “gay” and “trans” activists?”

She is very selective in her concerns, which seem to be only what she cares about and which fit in with her personal agenda.
Think she goes with the location.
This is the same “church” that was selling tickets to their Christmas Eve service.
Was she wearing sensible shoes and driving a Subaru?
Right away I knew it wasn’t a legit clergy person—”Episcopal” and “she” were total giveaways. Sadly that denomination jumped the rails long ago. And women shouldn’t be clergy, let alone a bishop. Jmho of course.
I do feel sorry for them yes. Sorry you have to go back and wait in line like everyone else.

My daughter-in-law came here from Slovakia. She did everything in accordance with the law, and I escorted her from York to Philly, PA to take the final steps to citizenship. She made me proud, and I believe anyone who comes here unlawfully should be apprehended and deported tout suite. NO EXCEPTIONS!
“This was all done in the name of “inclusion”, but it really amounted to massive exclusion!”

Correct but contradictions, hypocrisy and unapologetic lying are hallmarks of the Left.
