Epic Adam Carolla rant from a hotel after the LA wildfires forced to evacuate from his home, where he predicts Hollywood leftists will be so frustrated by the rebuild effort that they will not vote Democrat:
"You guys all voted for Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles. You all voted for Gavin Newsom, and now you xxxxxxx get what you get. now that your house is on fire.
So here's what's going to happen. All these people who are deep blue Democrats are now going to have to pull a permit to rebuild, and they're going to get the 28 year old bitch from the Coastal Commission telling them to go fuck off and then they're going to vote for Trump or whoever's Trumpian next.
When they start getting the regulation, they're going to go nuts. And when they start running into the bureaucracy and the red tape, they're going to start going nuts and they're going to vote for Rick Caruso next time.
They're going to find out they're going to get bit by their own snake. They're going to convert. I am telling you, these are the bluest people on the planet and they're going to be xxxxxxx rip sh!t pissed when the City and the Coastal Commission tell them to f--- off.

Oakland hills fire was in 1991 - 1,500 acres and causing $1.5 billion in damage.
So far the LA fire is 17,000 acres the Eaton 10,000
The insurance companies will not have that kind of money, even with re-insurance (insurance for ins companies) they may not recover.

And the California governments would not have to pay a penny for the ‘taking clause’ of the Constitution.
All they would have to do is say that rebuilding in those areas is a threat to the environment and so they will let it revert to its ‘natural’ state of wilderness.

He’s wrong. My stepson and his wife are as far left as the come, right down to being Prius driving vegans. They ran into that bureaucratic nightmare in Columbus, OH when they were remodeling their bicycle shop. Drove them nuts and cost them a ton of money. They still vote straight democrat at every level.

Lahaina started because of downed power lines starting roadside brush on fire.
Another major factor was that all the sugar cane and pineapple fields uphill from town were no longer being farmed. Therefore, wild brush could grow in fields that used to be irrigated to grow those two crops.
The other factor was the hurricane force winds and the fact that most of downtown Lahaina was old wood framed buildings very close together. Many were crappy wooden shacks sitting on lots worth multiple millions.
The fact is that the building codes in all of these fire prone locations need to change. Start with metal or cement or clay tile roofing and cement board siding. No vented overhangs. Many times houses will combust because the heat will build up inside the eaves/overhangs because the soffit vents allow the heat in. Then the wooden materials inside that cavity eventually reaches the temperature where it combusts.
The Paradise, California fire a few years ago was started because of high winds blowing down charged power lines. However, many of these houses had huge trees overhanging their houses. Typically within ten or fifteen feet of the structure. Again, this is poor planning. Large trees should not be within 40-50’ of a house. Not only can fire spread but branches can fall on a house. In addition, trees screw up the drainage around your foundation.

You may be right there is some of that going on on Sanibel Island in Florida after two hurricanes did a fine job of cleaning off the island. The local government is not making it easy to rebuild.
