This happened in New York city as well, they arrested the homeowner when she changed the locks because squatters had taken over her house.
“Sakemeyia Johnson is not a squatterโ because she is โ wait for it โ a relative of the partner of a previously evicted tenant.”
It all starts when people in Blue Counties (or Blue Cities) decide to play landlord, but without the proper legal protections in place. The best option, if people want to make some money by renting out a spare bedroom, is to instead move into a smaller house (or apartment) or move out of the Blue jurisdiction, unless the proper laws are in place, as this ‘judge’ in no different than any other Democrat ‘judge’.
I watched the video of the interview with the homeowner. I felt so sorry for her. You could tell she was someone who had worked hard and followed the rules, as had her parents before her, only to have government, cops, and court take the side of the law-breakers.
Donโt call the police. Take care of business yourself. If it takes several trips to the dump with the trunk full of body bags, then it is what it is.
Florida put a stop to the squatting BS this year.
It’s now illegal punishable by fines and jail time.
Why other states haven’t taken up that model is beyond my understanding.
“Clayton County Magistrate Court Judge Latrevia Lates-Johnson”
I think I’ve discovered the problem here.
Is there any doubt whose side the government street muscle will be on? Hope Trump changes this.
So what if a squatter squats on another squatter? Who then has the rights?
I mean, If a squatter made the owner homeless, then she could simply squat the squatter and claim squatters rights on her own home. I thinkโฆ
There was a couple a comments caught on body cam from one of the cops talking to the homeowner. He essentially told her that ‘she had more’ than the person and to try and see how that squatter (but he never said squatter) feels......
If you ask me, I bet this cop has some kind of connection with the squatter, somehow. I’d be asking about any remote connection if I were the homeowner’s lawyer.
Cops don’t talk like “you ought to ‘share’ cause you got more.”
I have never understood how this happens. You deal with it yourself on Day 1, armed. The squatter WILL leave, either walking out on their own or being carried out after being shot and killed while attacking the homeowner.
