Some Modest Proposals for President Trump
American Greratness ^ | 9 Dec 2024 | Roger Kimball

These are just a few suggestions from friends who support the MAGA agenda.

President-elect Trump hit the ground running following his election a month ago. He has already nominated his cabinet and several ambassadors, selected members of his White House staff, and heads of various agencies well in advance of Inauguration Day. In addition, he has fired off warnings to Canada and Mexico and to terrorists in the Middle East. He has appointed Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk to ferret out waste and abuse in the federal budget. He has a list of executive orders he will issue directly after taking office on January 20. He has ambitious plans. He also has inherited a mess to clean up.

Many powerful figures, some of them former foes, are lining up to visit the president-elect to get on his good side or suggest ideas for him to pursue. The window for getting things done appears to be open, at least for a time. It won’t last long; he has a year, maybe a year and a half, to strike before opposing forces gather to oppose him. He knows he must strike fast and hard while the opportunities are in front of him.

Bearing all of this in mind, below are a few unsolicited suggestions that friends and colleagues, all sympathetic to the new administration, have bandied about in recent weeks in hopes that some of them might be adopted.

To wit:

1. Fire, remove, or ask for the resignations of all Biden political appointees on day 1 of your administration—all of them, without exception. Any holdovers will block or frustrate your initiatives. That happened last time around. Biden’s people are not your friends.

2. Have a plan to take over all of the main departments on day 1, even if some of your cabinet secretaries have not been confirmed by the Senate. That may involve temporary appointments or deputies acting in your name. Your lawyers will know how to accomplish that. Time will run out soon enough.

3. It is not a good idea to communicate with your cabinet secretaries via the press or social media. That makes their jobs more difficult, as it gives opponents in government and in the press time and opportunity to mobilize in opposition. Instead, invite your attorney general to the White House once a week, or every other week, to discuss privately what you would like to see and what she can get done. That might work with other key secretaries at the State, Treasury, and Defense departments.

My proposals aren’t so modest. Take Hillary and Pelosi to Guantanamo and get the confessions (one way or another) and have a military tribunal sentence them. Then go after any rats (looking at you Schumer) who doesn’t support his common sense policies. Lawfare them and penalize them to the poorhouse.

I would like Trump to make changes that will change things AFTER he is president, not just while he is president.

Federal election reform that requires photo ID and proof of citizenship to vote in all federal elections. Passed by LAW and which no future Democrat president can undo.

Federal land reform stripping all future presidents of the ability to unilaterally declare federal lands protected or to ban oil drilling etc passed by LAW and which no future Democrat president can undo.

International aid reform. All future presidents must obtain specific congressional permission to give even $1 of American taxpayer funds to a foreign government or entity or to redirect funds to them. Passed by LAW and which no future Democrat president can undo.

And federal regulation reform. All future presidents must get congressional permission to change or update federal regulations. Passed by LAW and which no future Democrat president can undo and which prevents future presidents from just creating burdensome regulations out of thin air without congressional approval.

Close and sell as many govt buildings and facilities as possible, as fast as possible. If you don’t, the next regime will just fill them back up with useless fat employees.

my focus in on making changes that can’t be quickly undone by the next Democrat president.

so eliminate a government department? good, IF you can do it by law and prevent the next democrat president from simply recreating it without congressional approval.

Move forward with firing every General and Admiral who has played any part in destroying the morale and structure of the military. Bring back the officers and enlisted, with their approval, who refused the covid vaccinations and any other person who can prove they were relieved due to politics. Clean out the service academies of the rot and rancid DIE, racism and every other item to hinders merit. The AF Academy is particularly rotten.

One thing that’s probably on track — Elon Musk shouldn’t be getting held back by the Biden/Obama Creep State.

This is what’s happened during the period when he’s been under constant bogus EPA filings and FAA bureaucratese:

https://www.spacex.com/launches/

419 total launches

352 reflights

381 landings

Falcon 9 launch cadence has been increasing YOY for a while now, and I watched the replay of landing #375 sometime in the past couple of weeks, hours after it had happened. There’s been six since then.

SpaceX hasn’t gone through IPO, probably never will, but a cool million will buy a piece of the action via BFGIX.
