Before Matt Gaetz withdrew from his Attorney General nomination today, Morning Joe was furiously kibitzing over how he could be unraveled over allegations of having sex with a minor and attending drug-fueled parties.
If they couldn't obtain the House Ethics Committee report, the Senate would conduct its own investigation, bringing live witnesses to testify as to Gaetz's activities--something that, Joe Scarborough argued, would be worse for the nominee.
That's when MSNBC Republican Elise Jordan blew the lid off it, by claiming Gaetz was an "addict" twice over. It's not simply an issue of morality:
"Your morality leads you to become compromised. And this is about not wanting a sex addict, not wanting a drug addict, having control of the nation's top secrets at the end of the day."

Exactly!
At this point the swamp is so corrupt nobody there should even be thinking about casting the first stone. What infuriates me is the RINOS always rear their nasty evil heads when it’s a republican president. I am sick of Collins, the cow, McConnell and now we’ve got this new Senator from Utah fresh off the election cycle who was just elected to six freaking long years who I believe switch parties from Democrat to Republican. We are so screwed Trump‘s agenda is going to be stuck in the Senate floor for years. Maybe Putin will have mercy on us and nuke the shit out of DC!
You are being ridiculous. The House was not going to release this information. It was hacked.
You can either believe it or not. That is up to you.
I believe he made the payments. He has admitted it.
Go find your own evidence that you need for whatever your purpose is at this time.
If there was anything “there” on Gaetz, Biden’s DOJ would have liked nothing better than to prosecute him and have him removed from the House. They didn’t.
If you read the history of the allegations and understand the person behind them is in prison for extortion in connection with the entire underlying plot, you realize this is not a case of “where there is smoke, there is fire”. There was not even any smoke.
This was actually a plot targeting Gaetz and his family and was designed to a) get a person a lighter prison sentence; b) get money from the Gaetz family; c)use the allegations to get Gaetz investigated. A & B were not successful but they did manage to get “C” accomplished. And, the investigation found the allegations and the so-called witnesses to be “not credible”.
I hope Gaetz sues these people. The View hosts have already had to read a “legal note” retracting their earlier statements as fact (which were lies) on their show.
By now, any journalists should be aware of the underlying facts. I would bet Gaetz’s attorneys have already sent the networks “be on notice” letters. Therefore, the media spouting the accusations as true when they not only have NOT been proven but there is evidence showing the person behind them made them up, may be placing their networks in legal jeopardy.
It is my hope that by this time next year, MSNBC and CNN are just a faint memory and if suing them out of existence is the method that is used to accomplish that, then I hope everyone they’ve slandered just over the past few weeks gets to work preparing those lawsuits.
There is a blind gossip item indicating this theory. It was to provide cover for who he really wanted.
I don’t subscribe to this theory. Too much political capital was used. He was meeting with Senators. He had Graham supporting him.
I think something happened. I don’t know if it is additional info being revealed or simply Trump deciding he was not going to meet the demands of Mitch so it all collapsed.
I asked you to provide a link for your claim.
All I’ve heard from Gaetz is that he denies these allegations.
I don’t have an opinion one way, or, another.
I’m just asking for your claim’s back up.
And, again, show where I’ve said I do/don’t believe anything regarding Matt Gaetz.
🥱
It is very easy to prove he gave them money. He left a paper trail. He admits it.
What is not easy is to ascribe a motive to it.
Let’s go party with a Congressman. He will give us money to help with rent. He is an easy mark. We will party it up and have a good time all on his dime.
Or, I will give you X amount of money to come to New York and be my escort like a Hooker.
This is where credibility comes into it.
HE GAVE THEM MONEY. It is just a matter of whether he was trafficking girls to New York for paid sex or were they taking advantage of him and his need to play big shot.
He said/she said.
He does not deny he paid them money. He admits he paid them money. I believe him. Go find whatever evidence you need.
I have enough to conclude I believe that Gaetz made payments to these girls.
Oh BS! This is a clear example of holding a Republican the swamp doesn’t like to a standard that the swamp doesn’t hold for itself.
Paying 17 year old girls and traveling with them can be wholesome. Maybe he was early ministering to them. Maybe teaching them life skills.
All I know is He said:
“someone is trying to recategorize my generosity to ex-girlfriends as something more untoward.”
So yes, he made payments to his “ex-girlfriends”.
When Trump leaves the arena, the Republican Party will fade away. The Trump voters I know want nothing to do with them.
Ex girlfriends under the age of 18?
The fact that we expect people to surrender their reasoning skills and moral compass in order to support a perceived political ally is disturbing.
We don’t know how old she looked. When he found out her age he stopped having sex with her until she was over 18 as per the witness.
His current wife is not much older than this girl would be now. There is about 12 years between him and his wife.
I have no doubt that the egos of Congresspeople have them acting like Big Dogs to people they are trying to impress. Many are narcissists.
We can’t really know what happened because we don’t have access to the evidence.
I hope we are able to get someone like Ken Paxton or Tom Fitton into the role of AG.
Why do you feel as if you need to defend the indefensible?
I err on the side of what I can see and I don’t have access to the evidence. All I know is that he made payments to these women.
Personally, I don’t have a problem believing he would act in a skeevy way because I have often said he is skeevy to me.
When I was just getting out of high school I dated an older man. Women often do. And really old rich men often date much much younger women.
Would it have been better if he did not pay her, like so many demoncrat men are want to do...i.e. Bill Clinton?
🙄
