I was assured that foreigners hate Donald Trump, that his election would weaken America and cause us to lose standing in the world, that he is likely in the pocket of Putin and is more or less a traitor. But the Telegraph sees it differently: “Trump’s appointments have electrified the West.”
Donald Trump’s impending arrival at the White House is not only having a seismic impact on American politics. It is also creating dramatic changes to the global landscape, especially regarding the conduct of hostile states that will soon find themselves in the new administration’s cross hairs.
Russia, China, Iran and North Korea are among those that have cause to be concerned about the impact the more robust approach adopted by the incoming Trump administration will have on their fortunes.

The appointment of Pete Hegseth, a high-profile military veteran and Fox News presenter, as Trump’s next defence secretary will certainly concentrate a few minds in places like Moscow and Tehran. A hawk on both Russia and Iran, Hegseth has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s half-hearted support for Ukraine, and previously called on Trump during his first stint in the White House to launch direct military action against the ayatollahs.
Similarly, Senator Marco Rubio, who is being lined up to become secretary of state, has little appetite for compromise when dealing with America’s foes, arguing against a ceasefire in Gaza on the grounds that Israel should “destroy every element of Hamas they can get their hands on”, an approach that stands in stark contrast to the Biden administration’s continuing pursuit of a ceasefire-for-hostages deal.

Interesting article. Points to ponder.
To ostensible enemies, Trump and his cabinet should collectively be a mystery wrapped in a conundrum wrapped in a riddle wrapped in an enigma.
Leading them to give up hostilities and kiss Trump’s...ring.
After Brinton, Levine, Blinkey, Garland, Wray, Mayorkass, et. al. Anybody is better than what we’ve had.
Compared to Biden’s disgusting appointees, Trump has masterfully assembled an incredible brilliant group of appointments so far!
Buy Alka Setzer stock!
The ubiquitous, vocal and visible nutcases and the lemmings who have allowed themselves to be hoodwinked could profit from a strong dose of ECT.
Yes, it is interesting. I already started "pondering" before this article appeared.
In particular, the two names mentioned are at the top of my "things ain't gonna change" list.
It's just more of the same. We rule the world, it's our world, and we'll whip your butt if you don't mind us. You know, like Blinken, but hopefully much smarter. And then they keep the war machine going like the last several wars/disasters/debacles, just turning up with a few new names plus the old ones, too.
Yep. Just keep it up and drive Russia, China, and the global south to keep on growing with their own NATO-like version block (BRICs, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, etc.).
I sure hope it doesn't turn out like the last few disasters: Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, etc.
How'd them work out for us??
Maybe somebody will tell them it's not 1945 anymore. That era ended for us a couple of decades ago.
Trump has made it clear that he’s against all the forever wars we’ve been involved in. But an administration that looks hawkish might encourage our enemies back into their lane. And it’ll push our allies to pay attention to their own security & problems at home.
I’m not too worried. Trump wants to make AMERICA great again & that will be his primary focus...sorting our gov’t out & trimming it down. A lot, I hope!
BTTT
Like Willie Nelson sang to Harriz/Walzee, “Turn out the lights, the party’s over.”
Ultimately, it’s Donald Trump’s foreign policy. No one, including these appointees, should forget that.

Well, I sure hope you're right.
My view is that we should stop dictating to others how it's going to be, sit down like grown-ups, and work things out so we all win—and not destroy each other.
Unfortunately, over the last thirty-plus years, we've tried being bullies and dictating our views, and all it's accomplished is alienating and forcing others to despise us. So they've set up their own blocks to escape our reach — you know, like the BRICS and other organizations.
Time will tell if you get your hope. We agree on that. Based on recent history, I'm not as confident as you that it will happen.
I don’t know if you ever watched Glenn Beck, but one of the things he’s mentioned over & over again is how each administration is driven by the Deep State. After a show where he criticized something W did, he was called to the WH. Bush said (essentially): “Regardless of who is in office, they will do the same thing I’m doing because I have to listen to the CIA, NSA, etc., etc.”
Trump is at war with those agencies & he will not be listening to them. Better yet, if all goes well, he’ll be substantially dismantling them & removing such influence on future administrations.
Most of us had some trust that our gov’t was working for good in the world. That trust is now substantially dissipated & we want a return to Limited Gov’t & less intervention abroad.
We can only hope, and PRAY, that Trump will be successful. But I have more hope these days than I’ve had for years.
Electrified the west? You mean we can finally find a charging station for our EV out there?
Hopefully, Biden doesn’t provoke WW3 in the next couple months.
Well, I wouldn't go that far.
