Great for Mr. Underwood.

He should work the best deal he can.

Interesting tidbit.....

Service academy players cannot take NIL deals. They’re considered employees at the academies because the government pays for their tuition and housing, and people in the military cannot use their standing for personal gain, per federal laws.

Yet, USMA and USNA football teams are doing great,,,,USAFA not so much.

“It is an insult to any real students who are actually student athletes.”

Market rates are not an insult.

The starting QB at Michigan or LSU has a far greater market value than the third string punter at a directional school.

“I knew right away that NIL would lead to this mess.”

Mr. Underwood will add value to Michigan or LSU, and he is seeking to be compensated for the value he adds to the program.

What is messy about that?

What’s messy about that is that it’s professional football.

Fine. Just don’t pretend they are simply student athletes

That horse is not only out of the barn, it went over the hill a long time ago.

‘What’s messy about that is that it’s professional football.’

Yes, professionals should be paid for their services and the value they add to an organization.

These kids are just trying to make a living.

They get paid, it’s called a “scholarship”.

It’s been professional football since the first time a coach was paid more than twice what teachers at the same school made. They just punished the athletes to maintain the fiction of amateurism. Now everybody gets to reap the benefits of it being professional.

One can only conclude that if Michigan is offering Mr. Underwood $10.5 million over four years, that his market rate is around $2.65 million a year.

Perhaps LSU will make a better offer, or if this kid is that good, Bevo will jump in and out bid everyone.

Why? Colleges make millions or billions off the Name, Image and/or likeness of their players. If they can serve in the military they are old enough to manage their own affairs. IMHO.

A kid with an agent will know better than to do anything beyond collect his NIL. SCOTUS over missing playoffs... tisk tisk. . The NCAA is going to rape Michigan. They have tore Central Mich a new one over Stalions... and Western Mich is next. The Fruits of the Jim Harbaugh coaching tree is posioned.

When te Las Vagas gambling comission finds stuff on your coaching staffs PC Network while ivestigating a gambleing IP Address, and law enforce and the B1G are notified of things it is more than just Stalions.

Michigan will have a Happy New Year knowing it will take 3-5 years before they can recover.
