Not surprisingly, opinions are decidedly mixed on why President-Elect Donald Trump enjoyed such a decisive victory over Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris in Tuesday's presidential election.
Perhaps the most disagreements out there on the "how did this happen?" question are coming from stunned Democrats and media figures alike who no doubt felt certain going into Election Day that their mix of lawfare and demonization of the former president as the "next Hitler" would ultimately be his undoing.
Not only did it not turn out that way, but the tactics backfired bigly, with Trump crushing the Harris-Walz ticket, winning not only more than the required electoral votes but the popular vote as well, with the latter adding insult to injury considering all the arguments from the left about how we need to turn presidential elections into popular vote contests.

FDR won 4 elections. He is why they created the 22nd amendment limiting a president to 2 terms.
Because we were watching them closely. Because many states passed laws regarding election reform that didn't allow the non-traceable ballots to be pumped into the system. Because we went to court to stop the shenanigans on many occasions, (like the 200,000 non-citizen voters in Arizona registered to vote.) Because Harris was such a horrible candidate that they didn't think the public would believe she won. Because people were sick of the corrupt, incompetent Biden regime and all his idiocy.
Lots of reasons.
I'll copy them for future reference.
Presidential Election votes 2004 to 2024
As of November 6, 2024
Election Year | Republican votes | Democrat votes | Total votes |
---|---|---|---|
2024 | 72,641,564 | 67,957,895 | 140,599,459 |
2020 | 74,224,319 | 81,284,666 | 155,508,985 |
2016 | 62,984,828 | 65,853,514 | 128,838,342 |
2012 | 60,933,504 | 65,915,795 | 126,849,299 |
2008 | 59,948,323 | 69,498,516 | 129,446,839 |
2004 | 62,040,610 | 59,028,444 | 121,069,054 |
I think those numbers are preliminary, with still a good many uncounted.
The end result could make the race look somewhat closer and will likely increase both numbers by a few million votes.
This is a dupe but fine. The people to blame are the ones that didn’t manufacture democrat votes like they did in 2020.

This is indeed what happened, and it is the biggest story! WTH happened to the 10 million Biden voters?
Thanks. I just pulled them from a couple of sources as a cross check. The 2024 numbers are from this morning.
As of this morning, with 95% of the votes counted, these are my 2024 projections for the final totals:
Presidential Election votes 2004 to 2024
2004 - 2020 = actual votes
2024 = as of November 9, 2024 -- my estimate based on 95% counted
Election Year | Republican votes | Democrat votes | Total votes |
---|---|---|---|
2024 | 78,172,413 | 74,058,765 | 152,231,178 |
2020 | 74,224,319 | 81,284,666 | 155,508,985 |
2016 | 62,984,828 | 65,853,514 | 128,838,342 |
2012 | 60,933,504 | 65,915,795 | 126,849,299 |
2008 | 59,948,323 | 69,498,516 | 129,446,839 |
2004 | 62,040,610 | 59,028,444 | 121,069,054 |
Thank you very much. This is very useful information put into one place. Thank you again.
And leftie RAT Van Jones apparently had an epiphany: “Turns out that we’re the idiots.”
Compare those to 2020.
In the House, 17 districts are still not called, and Republicans lead in 8 -- one or two others razer close.
Republicans are currently called in 214, with 218 needed for a majority.
Final vote estimate based on this mornings totals, still showing as 95% completed:
Presidential Election votes 2004 to 2024
As of November 12, 2024 -- 2024 estimate based on 95% counted:
Election Year | Republican votes | Democrat votes | Total votes |
---|---|---|---|
2024 est. | 79,065,268 | 75,596,065 | 154,661,334 |
2020 | 74,224,319 | 81,284,666 | 155,508,985 |
2016 | 62,984,828 | 65,853,514 | 128,838,342 |
2012 | 60,933,504 | 65,915,795 | 126,849,299 |
2008 | 59,948,323 | 69,498,516 | 129,446,839 |
2004 | 62,040,610 | 59,028,444 | 121,069,054 |
So it looks like the 2020 “missing votes” are now accounted for.
Your math ain’t right.
Of course, it's just a rough estimate, taking the published numbers and dividing them by .95.
Nothing sophisticated about it, so doubtless the actual numbers will turn out to be somewhat different.

Trump's votes are 4 million more than 2020 (15 million more than 2016), Democrats' votes are 6 million less than 2020.
My, my, isn't that interesting?
Camel: 72,930,860

Thank you for the update.
I agree, we need to keep looking - Saw one total yesterday that put Trump’s latest total 2024 votes just a few hundred thousand higher than his 2020 votes.
The rest of the Ritchie Torres keyword, sorted:
Correct, mine were slightly less, so if you divide those by .97 you get my estimates above.
There are still circa 4.5 million votes not yet counted.
Liberals don’t ‘get’ what happened because they never heard any views that differed from their own.
