Former President Donald Trump's campaign is claiming that "handlers" for Vice President Kamala Harris abruptly ended her interview with Fox News host Bret Baier.
Harris sat down with Baier on Wednesday for her first interview on Fox News since becoming this year's Democratic presidential nominee in July. The often contentious interview, which aired commercial-free for just under 27 minutes, touched on several hot-button campaign issues and the vice president's criticisms of Trump.
Just after the interview aired, the Trump campaign's "Trump War Room" account on X, formerly Twitter, shared a very short clip of the interview's ending while claiming that Harris had performed so badly that her team was forced to "throw in the towel."
"WATCH: Bret Baier looks to Kamala's handlers as they throw in the towel and frantically push to end her disastrous interview. 'They're giving me a hard wrap here,'" the Trump campaign wrote.
During an on-air discussion following the interview, Baier said that Harris arrived to the interview around 5:15 p.m., later than expected, and that Fox was "pushing the envelope" to complete what was expected to be a 25-minute interview before 6 p.m.
Baier said the following about the end of the interview during a broadcast of Hannity a short time later: "It was cordial, I said, 'thank you so much, Madame Vice President, for the time.' Her people, like probably four people, were wrapping me with big, you know, moving arms. That's why I looked out to the side and said, 'I've got to wrap up.'"
There was no indication that the Harris team ended the interview early or that it wrapped up because they thought it was a "disastrous" performance, despite the Trump campaign's claim.
Newsweek reached out for comment to the Harris campaign via email on Wednesday night.

Now comes the excuse they weren’t ending the interview because it was disastrous for Harris. Along with that will be the narrative that this was one of the strongest interviews by a Presidential candidate *ever*.
He should have asked her, “Name three things you’ve accomplished in your life that qualify you to be POTUS.”
She would have melted like the wicked witch she is.
Was he watching the same interview I was?
Bret Baier tried to make a point when he asked, when did you notice Biden had cognitive issues?
“Trump!”
Baier’s point, which he is too polite to lay out plain:
“If you can’t size up Joe Biden after 3.5 years joined to his hip, how are you going to do in very limited hours with Putin, Xi, Kim, or Khamenei?”
She did so well, I hear she’s been offered her own reality show,
“Kamala’s Cute Sex Tricks” .......... Willie Brown is co-host.
Even got sponsors lined up-——Erectile dysfunction (ED) products
including oral medications, online prescription services, and dietary supplements:
The most common treatment for ED is Viagra——PDE5 inhibitors, which relax penile tissues.
Looks like the spin is in. What dutiful little media whores.
Cocaine is a helluva drug....................
totally unprofessional by kamalas team. They were hoping to disrupt Bret and then screw him by only giving a 20 minute interview where she would talk and say nothing.
So what happened? She did not answer a single question, she came across as a *itch, she lied, she hid from her past, and she fell flat.
Brett did well after they tried to disrupt him, I’ll give him that.
I wonder what "indication" would be necessary - a Harris staffer taking a club to Baer's head? It wasn't the Program Director saying, "Wrap it up" in his ear...
The Trump team is seeing the same thing I am. The recorded interview was manipulated. Anyone with some sort of marketing background can pick it out.
She lost her composure in a major outburst at some point that we will never witness.
Why Fox is downplaying it with the tardiness excuse? Basic, decent respect for her as a human being.
Exactly
That’s what they call “making chicken salad” (out of .....)
A very poorly thought out strategy, given that Bret and his Fox crew will be getting the last word for days, even weeks, to come.
One: I grew up a middle class kid
Two: my neighbors were proud of their lawns
Three: getting the chrome of a trailer hitch is not challenging to me
“He should have asked her, “Name three things you’ve accomplished in your life that qualify you to be POTUS.””
Ya know Brett, I come from a middle class background, blah, blah, blah....
He should have asked her, “How much do you figure you owe to blacks considering how many slaves your family owned on your plantation?”
Easy to believe. VERY easy to believe.
