Here in NH, we’re Constitutional Carry as well, and my understanding is that the permit’s only real advantage is for reciprocity.
Depends on the law in those other states. Many are Constitutional carry as well these days. I maintain mine, but I’ve had it for decades. A close study of the laws in those states where travel is expected is indicated.
“Registered” firearm? Very few locations have this requirement. Just because it’s heard on every cop TV show “It’s not registered!” doesn’t mean it exists. Others? Anyone? Bueller?
I think most states require you list the carry weapon. So if itโs not registered it canโt be listed on the permit and you probably couldnโt legally carry it concealed.
But I live in California so seek other opinions. There are CCW forums out there, too.
Here in Illinois it is not necessary to register any particular firearm when you get your CCL.

Don’t get a permit unless you must.
Also, don’t plaster stickers all over your vehicles that advertise that you’re into guns.
The reciprocity between states is good to have. Doesnโt really matter, at least where I am, that your carry weapon is not registered to you. Might matter if it was registered to someone else who had committed a crime or was used in a crime, but thatโs not likely your case. Most common thing is probably one that was passed down through family.
I think you need a concealed carry license in reciprocating states. Not all states are constitutional carry but still recognize out of state CCP. Given the pervasiveness of the surveillance state, I think it is a fading fantasy that gun owners can fly under the radar.
Ditto to what the other posters said. Also, getting the permit increases our numbers. Looks good for all of us licensed to carry.
freaking Illinois allows Concealed Carry but does not allow reciprocity from any state.
here’s a decent site that may help.

Not sure what you mean by “not registered.” If you mean you made it yourself from an 80% kit, you might check if a firearm with no serial number (or one you created) is legal in the state into which you are travelling. I would assume a pre-1968 firearm with no serial number would be legal.
“Registered”: Local/State condition. Check your local laws. There is no federal registration other than the shadow registration of 4473s
Check the local laws for everything to do with carrying a firearm.
Carry restrictions/Where you can carry
Use the State Police website/USCCA/NRA. Don’t listen to your “Buddy” or go to strangers on an internet forum for information that can put you in prison.
Reciprocity: Once again, check local/State laws. Constitutional carry has limitations.
Learning the laws is your responsibility.
Dean has a wealth of information about this. Shooting him a ping.
In Florida you don’t need to list the weapon you are going to carry so that would also apply to states that observe reciprocity with Florida. Also, in Florida there is no requirement to go through a FFL to do a sale between two residents of Florida as long as the seller does not know that the buyer is a prohibited person.
My opinion is we live in a total surveillance state (see Snowden, Edward) and AI just learned that you didn’t lose all your guns in a boating accident and probably have one or two stashed somewhere, if it didn’t know it before.
You generate so much metadata when you are on the Internet that the chances of concealing your identity are just about zero as they connect all the dots, even if you are behind a VPN.

When you look at how many schools are in a given urban area - especially around Phoenix - it becomes hard to walk or drive anywhere without unintentionally infringing on this law. And you know Leftist judges are just waiting for the chance to go after Constitutional Carriers who think they have Second Amendment rights...
Also, FFL's don't have to run a background check on you if you have a current AZ CCL - speeds up the purchasing process.
Go to a gun show and buy from an individual with cash.
I’ve done it numerous times.
When you get home jot down a brief description, time and date of the transactions and hope you didn’t buy from a BATF undercover. They are all over.
