On September 15, 2024, a second assassination attempt was foiled by Secret Service agents when at least one fired at a person who was poking a rifle muzzle through the perimeter fence at Trump’s West Palm Beach, Florida, golf club. The attempt was stopped at about 2 p.m. From the nypost.com:
It is the second time a madman armed with an assault rifle has tried to kill the 45th president in two months.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said the suspect took cover near a chain-link fence between 300 and 500 yards from Trump as he teed off at the fifth hole around 2 p.m. — noting that “with a rifle and scope, like, that is not a long distance.”
The rifle appears to be an SKS with a telescopic sight attached. It is either a variant that took AK47 magazines or has

some unusual equipment for a guy who only makes $30K per year, and just flew in from Hawaii
Maybe some one can ask him...
“..There’s no way you could get a decent sight picture with that piece if crap....”
Exactly, but they likely want to kill him with one of their “assault weapons” so they can get a “two for one” score: Trump gone and a real big gig to outlaw “assault weapons”. Evil to the max.
He "said" he only makes $30k a year. He is a lifelong scammer. Who knows how much cash he has stashed in various places.
He was in North Carolina in May of 2024. He was scouting/stalking Trump for nearly a month in Florida.
The press did know. They were getting photos of the game. Some of those photos were published afterwards in "news articles".
Photographers hanging around the outside of the fence has been a longstanding problem at the golf course. Where was the perimeter patrol to roust them?
And how did Routh manage to hide in his location for 12 hours without being spotted? The sniper nest was next to a busy highway.
Things that make me go "WTF?".
If you want to find the third wannabe assassin before they try something, just watch all of the Blackrock commercials. That person is in one of them.
Back before my canoeing accident....
I owned an SKS factory modified for the AK47 type detachable magazine like the one in the picture. This was 25 or more years ago.....back when I had to have EVERYTHING FIRST as it came out.
My 1/2 dozen standard SKS’s were challenged to group 4 inches at 100 yards......this modified version could not hold an 8 inch group at 100 yards!
Machining out the receiver as necessary to convert an internal magazine to a detachable one, left the sides weak and subject to torsional flex.
I dumped it at the first opportunity.
This is they type of rifle you arm someone with that you WANT to make noise, but miss.
Oh.....BTW.
The 7.62x39 cartridge...it drops
-7 inches at 200 yards
-27 inches at 300 yards
-63 inches at 400 yards
-123 inches at 500 yards
The numbers are right. You might as well throw a rock beyond 200 yards.
Again, a rifle you let someone use you WANT to get caught.
The 7.62x39 round is not the best outside of 300 yards, but bullet drop is predictable and can easily be compensated for with hold over or scope turret adjustments. The round is still lethal at the greater distances.
7.62x39 would not be my preference for a 500yd shot. I'd go with 308Win or 300WinMag for better ballistics and energy at impact. But 7.62x39 could have been lethal with some skill and a little luck.
It is the second time a madman armed with an assault rifle has tried to kill the 45th president in two months.
_____________
I disagree, that these were madmen.
Well... They were mad at Trump, and at the world, I believe..../S
“Would still like to know why the guy was there before Trump had even decided to play that morning.”

This is one of the most important questions about this event, and one that should be easy to ascertain. If it was just happenstance then the government should have no hesitation to state that. The ongoing silence about facts raises additional questions, that’s for sure.
“He was scouting/stalking Trump for nearly a month in Florida.”

And then there was his trip to Ukraine. All this travel requires money. And who did he communicate with while in these places?
I guess they do when the fence is the only thing to rest the barrel on.
Greater bullet drop reduces the shooter's error budget for range estimation and holdover but that doesn't make it an impossible shot. It all comes down to shooter skill and preparation.
Even for shooters who don't have the skill sets of a military sniper, drop isn't the biggest problem. Drop and the holdover to compensate for it are calculable and repeatable. The biggest problems are the wind call and (particularly on sunny days) heat shimmer (mirage).
And drop in inches is a meaningless figure to the triggerman, he's adjusting for drop in either minutes of angle or millirads.
Semi auto rifles have been around since 1903. The SKS is really not much different than a common Remington Model 8 made in 1905. That is 119 years ago.
Here is a Remington Model 8.

I think you nailed that real heart of the matter - we’re dealing with a moron.
The SKS is reasonably accurate at 100 yards. The 7.62-39 cartridge is lethal at greater range if you hit the target. Oddly the SKS is a good defense weapon for your home. It is rugged and reliable, particularly those made in Romania. The AK type magazine (this was an add on as the original is internally fed, I can do that mod in about 10 minutes) is actually a hindrance for accurate shooting as it makes a prone shooting position harder. If either of those shooters were deer hunters, Trump would be dead.
This administration has willfully withheld sufficient protection for President Trump. They do want him dead!
IRAN??????
Looks like scope was zip tied.
PLUS, he offered $150,000.00 for someone to assassinate Trump!!!
