“Many supporters seated behind Trump onstage went to the ER after the rally with “blurred vision” and “burning” to the eyes. I spoke to several who still have not fully recovered. As many as 20 were affected,” Kelly wrote on X.
The cause of the symptoms remains unknown, and an active investigation is underway.
Supporters from the “Latinos for Trump” group were among the most severely impacted, including Pastor Eli Moreno and his wife, Francesca. Pastor Moreno described mild discomfort, but his wife’s symptoms were far worse.
“Her vision blurred, her face swelled up, and we had to rush to the nearest Walgreens for help,” Pastor Moreno told Kelly.
Mrs. Moreno’s symptoms persisted for several days, and despite treatment in the ER, she has been referred to an ophthalmologist for further care.

Another attendee, Mayra Rodriguez, a Planned Parenthood “whistleblower,” shared a similar experience, explaining that just 30 minutes after leaving the rally, she was unable to open her eyes due to extreme burning.
“When I got to the hospital, they told me I had a chemical burn,” Rodriguez said. “Days later, I’m still dealing with blurry vision and sensitivity to light.”

Investigation - ahem - will reveal if it was nefarious. Very weird it was isolated to the one group.
Kneejerk explanation might be that someone’s mace leaked in her purse, but the one woman’s symptoms are so severe it sounds like something far stronger & caustic.

I was in the bleachers behind Trump at his Asheboro, NC rally and noticed several orange bags behind the base of his podium.

They are apparently used for chemical/gas attacks. I wonder if they have other devices which could proactively provide air quality detection... like an outdoor carbon monoxide detector.

Anything’s possible. Everybody reacts different to chemical agents, and some can have more serious side effects. I hope they’ll be able to figure out what caused this, in order to prevent it from happening again.

UV laser would be my guess too, and I think they’re pretty common nowadays. I’ve experienced UV eye burns related to arc welding and the symptoms they’re describing sound very similar.
IR laser also seems like a possibility, except I think the bad guys would avoid that since security is probably monitoring the area in IR. IR also seems to require higher power than UV to do eye damage, so it might require a bulkier laser source.
