The Left’s Swift Shift After RFK Jr.’s Trump Endorsement
Am Greatness ^ | 25 Aug 2024 | Roger Kimball

Kennedy’s indictment of his former party, along with his endorsement of Donald Trump, has sent shock waves through the chambers of the self-appointed elite who would rule us.

The thing I admire about contemporary deep-state Democrats is their nimbleness.

This nimbleness was on ostentatious view in the regime response to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s announcement Friday that he was 1) suspending his campaign (at least in battleground states) and 2) throwing his support behind Donald Trump.

The acrid scent of panic might have been expected among the limp-wristed, totalitarian faithful. And, in fact, beneath the amusing cologne of anti-Trump bluster, the panic was indeed discernible.

But there was also that trademark smooth-as-a-suppository (as Saul Bellow put it) suaveness, exemplified, for instance, by former Obama strategist David Axelrod.

“Robert F. Kennedy Sr.,” Axelrod posted shortly after the deed was done, “would have been appalled to see his son cut a deal to drop out for [t]he race and endorse Trump.”

Imagine: someone agrees to drop out of a race at the last minute and support a rival candidate! As the commentator Ned Ryan put it in response to Axelrod’s snippy post: “You suddenly seem offended by someone cutting a deal to drop out of the race and endorse someone else.”

Quote: “ After listening to RFK Jr’s signature in speech which may come to define him, I think the same could be said of RFK Jr.”

Great speeches are often born of courageous stands. He bucked his family and the powers that lord over this Country and knew he was crossing the Rubicon. As a result, his speech needed to be, and was, diction of consequence. I would go so far as to call it a eulogy for the Democrat party.

I too have never been a fan of the Kennedy clan. They seemed to father the lack of a moral compass that was embraced by subsequent Democrat politicians, especially Bill Clinton. Or, at least, made it acceptable to flaunt that lack of a moral compass with little care.

How times have changed when we long for morality being an election issue that made an impact. Currently, we are in a fight for our very system. The Left is arguing for totalitarianism and calling it “saving democracy.” The left is moving toward its dream of instituting a society with 1984 as the template.

Yup—not one member of the Kennedy Klan stood up for Mary Jo Kopechne.

If they had any decency they all would have stayed out of public life after that—as penance for her murder.

IMHO, RFK Jr's most important part of his speech was when he called out the US for our role in the 2014 coup in Ukraine; this is important, because it brings the issue to the center of the debate.

Should the Greatest Country in the World further escalate conflict with Russia to the point where direct conflict results, our provocations will not be easily hidden.

So Axleshaft knows BETTER than Bobby Jr. how his own father would have felt?

I once shook the sweaty swollen hand of Robert F. Kennedy Sr., so I can tell you that he would be ASHAMED of todays Demonrat Party and very PROUD of his son.

He was riding in an open convertible at walking speed. He only said one word to me “TRUMP”.

Well that part isn’t true, he didn’t say anything, but the rest is TRUE!

Nor did they shun nor ostracize nor otherwise admonish Ted. Publicly anyway. Shameful.

I believe the older Kennedys were actual patriots; JFK and Bobby. Teddy was terrible, a socialist who wrought a lot of woe on our country with his Immigration Act, opening up immigration favoring 3rd World invaders over educated Europeans.

RFK jr. seems to come down more on the side of his Uncle and Father, who were actually pretty conservative by today's standard of Democrats.

It took a lot of guts to do what he did the other day; and he knows he's a marked man.

The fact that the same Deep State that was shooting at Trump that was shooting at them, tells one ALL he needs to know.

EVERY single word of your Post #2 is the TRUTH, especially your final sentence... "They installed a candidate who was so unpopular with voters that she dropped out in 2020 without winning a single delegate."

That's a great RFK Ir. quote.

Leftists will make him pay for that. It does not mention Trump being Hitler.
