Although MP1b is an enhanced version of MP2, it’s not airborne; contact with blister and bodily fluids is necessary for transmission. So the logical thing to do is stop all incoming travel from Congo, avoid homosexual, bisexual and sex worker encounters, avoid San Francisco (which seems to already have high indicator levels in wastewater plants) and other sex tourism locations. This seems to be a disease where the best action in developed nations is to let it burn out, same as 2022 and leave the limited supply of vaccines for Africans. What worries me most is that in order to force us, someone in this administration might think of importing the monkey virus.
According to my understanding, this virus is less contagious than smallpox, but I am sure there are those who would try to spread it mainly in the key states... these are my suspicions.
