New details about the assassination attempt on President Trump are coming fast.
Earlier this morning former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino gave his opinion about the Secret Service almost unfathomable drop in security protocol that allowed a gunman with a rifle to climb atop a building a mere 130 yards away from President Trump. Having some very specific insight into protection detail protocol, Bongino gives a unique perspective on what might have gone wrong.

Making matters worse, the FBI are in charge of the investigation. The FBI has suffered irreversible credibility collapse, and many believe there is no worse agency to investigate the events than a highly politicized and weaponized Federal Bureau of Investigation, with a long and non-debatable history of corruption.
Obviously, accepting the lack of public trust in both the FBI and Secret Service, there is mounting speculation as to whether the assassination effort was the result of a series of grossly incompetent mistakes, or was perhaps a willfully blind -and intentional- failure of security.
Adding fuel to the fire of intentional security failures, the AP is now reporting that a police officer saw the gunman before the shots were fired, and the police officer retreated allowing time for the shooter to fire 5 shots toward his target – wounding President Trump and two other attendees, killing another.
(VIA AP) – […] Not long before shots rang out, rallygoers noticed a man climbing to the roof of a nearby building and warned local police, according to two law enforcement officials.
One local police officer climbed to the roof and encountered Crooks, who pointed his rifle at the officer. The officer retreated down the ladder, and Crooks quickly took a shot toward Trump, and that’s when Secret Service snipers shot him, said the officials, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.
that officer needs to be fired
sounds like the cowards at the school shooting in Texas.
The cop would only shoot him if he was unarmed....
The Democrats want PDJT dead. Nothing could be more obvious. Also the entire federal bureaucracy wants him dead. They almost got him Saturday. They won’t give up either.
As far as conspiracies go, what I can’t understand is why secret service or law enforcement weren’t covering that rooftop the whole time. It seems like more than just a lapse or error.
But to play devil’s advocate on a few things, I think I can understand why they didn’t shot him. I have a feeling they just weren’t sure. No one wanted to take a shot during a political rally and be blamed for killing a civilian. Can you imagine being perched with a sniper rifle and having to make the call to shoot across a crowd to kill someone who hasn’t started shooting yet? Or worse, killing a member of law enforcement who was collaborating on security?
I’d be willing to bet that if they release the audio from the secret service or if it comes out in an investigation that you would hear a lot of chatter like “Is he ours? Is that our asset? I NEED CONFIRMATION that he has a gun and is not law enforcement”
I think a lot of people just aren’t thinking through what it would have been like to be there.
Maybe the cop was thinking, “oh, that’s just the guy I saw chatting with the FBI/SS; he must be a fed.” Yes, strictly imagination but, unfortunately these days, all too believable.
Nothing stopped the cop from shooting rounds in the air to alert trump. They’re just making stuff up as they go along.
> that officer needs to be fired <
Well, one thing is for sure. He/she will get 100% of the blame for the assassination attempt. The incompetent Secret Service folks will get a pass.
That sniper may have never taken a life before, and he had a split-second choice to make. It will be very interesting if the audio is ever released, which I highly doubt.
What goes up must come down.
Yup.
One way to deal with the situation would be to “stop the shooter”.
An alternative way to deal with the situation is to “get the president off the stage”.
They did neither, and I think it was on purpose.
Poor communication or lapse between SS & local law enforcement resulted in failure to secure that roof.
I thought that too. But from what I've read, once the cop topped the ladder, the shooter pointed the rifle at him. The cop then fell down the ladder during his retreat. After that, the shooter immediately fired at Trump.
‘Observe and Report’.
The mysterious ladder--reports do not describe the cop climbing a ladder. Media reports he climbed down a ladder. Another report describes the cop was hoisted up to peer over the roofline, dropped/falling to the ground after encountering the perp aiming his weapon at the cop.
A lot of room for not knowing all the details, but reports are the shooter pointed the rifle at the cop who was likely only armed with a pistol if his hands were free to hold a weapon at all (generally speaking at any significant distance, in rifle against pistol, rifle wins)... and even though the cop retreated (i can not blame him if a rifle was pointed at him, and from other reports he was climbing up with his hands on the roof and dropped down when the rifle was pointed at him) it was reported that when the cop retreated is when the shooter began shooting... it may be had the cop not confronted him, the shooter would have made a more careful and effective shot.
We may learn more, but the cop may have just reacted instictively to having a rifle pointed at him, but may have shaken the shooter enough to rush and be less acurate than he would have otherwise have been.
The officer had no choice. Only in the movies can one fire a gun while hanging onto a ladder. It takes two hands to fire a gun.
Even if you could fire a gun with one hand, the recoil would likely throw you backwards off the ladder. Also you are an easy target for someone on the area above you.
The only choice was to retreat and call for help. The assassin was forced into firing right away and possibly that added to the the factors of him not getting off a deadly shot.
Trying to blame this officer is just a diversion by the media .
” The officer retreated down the ladder, and Crooks quickly took a shot toward Trump, and that’s when Secret Service snipers shot him”
“the AP is now reporting that a police officer saw the gunman before the shots were fired, and the police officer retreated allowing time for the shooter to fire 5 shots toward his target “
