Sen. Tim Scott appears determined to take himself out of the running to be Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick.
In an interview on CNN’s State of the Union with host Jon Karl, Scott said he stood by his decision to certify the 2020 presidential election, despite widespread evidence of voter fraud that tipped the election in Biden’s favor.
Here is a transcript of the exchange:
JON KARL: OK. Senator, the day before that violent mob attacked the Capitol, you put out a statement explaining your decision to certify Joe Biden’s election victory.
Do you stand by that? You were not one of those that challenged the results. You voted to certify Biden’s election victory. Do you stand by that?
SCOTT: Certainly. I will stand by that decision

KARL: All right, and very quickly, we’re just about out of time, but you had said that Mike Pence absolutely did the right thing when he defied Donald Trump’s demand to — to not certify that election. Do you still stand by that, that Pence absolutely did the right thing on January 6th?
SCOTT: The Constitution is clear. What we’re trying to focus on is how do we make sure we get four more years where the American people, particularly kids like me, growing up in poverty, have the best future we could possibly have.

I believe Trump wants Tim Scott as Senate Majority Leader when McConnell leaves in 2027.
It's not just Freepers, this type of thinking is common with hosts on NewsMax and RAV, etc. But to be honest, no "fraud" (an actual legal term) was ever presented back then, or even since. The state legislatures all certified their electors, which is where protests are to be settled. The US Congress is just a ceremonial process, that's necessary to make it official.
And Congress had nothing they could really hold on to, to justify not accepting the state's appointed electors. To this day there's still not one first hand witness to any wide scale cheating. Doesn't mean cheating didn't happen, but you would need some real evidence like that to disavow the electors that the states all sent to be counted by Congress.
Had Pence even tried to block the counting, both him and Trump would have been immediately impeached, and removed from office. They impeached Trump anyway just for calling a protest that day, but he wasn't removed because the electoral college vote did actually go through.
There's no doubt there were "irregularities" that needed investigation, and the time to investigate before the electoral college was unfortunately short. But you can't not follow the Constitution in times of crisis like that. That's what this country is based on. And after all this time there still is nothing concrete you can hang your hat on that proves the election was stolen. That's why more and more people like Scott are still saying they did the right thing by certifying the state's electors, as the Constitution REQUIRES.

Certification in this instance also served retroactively to sanate a corrupt process that served up a victor, in Brandon, who apparently did, in fact, flat-out steal the election from PDJT.
Meaning: Brandon was rewarded for his corrupt efforts with a four-year term as a legitimate POTUS.
It’s tough for law-and-order types like This Guy to swallow but it does bring finality.
Looked at in this light, Scott’s unforced action in voting to certify was specifically and undeniably political in nature. Which does not necessarily make it a bad act. However, it certainly reeks of an inveterate go-along-to-get-along attitude to federal governance.
Anyone with logic and reasoning skills could figure out the outcome of the 2020 election was totally bogus.

Whether or not there is at least some discretion in the hands of the VPrexy was an open question, and, because Pence took the ceremonial route, remains an open question.
Reasonable minds can disagree. Senator Scott’s obviously did.
