US Supreme Court allows 40 states to issue their own gold and silver-backed currencies, endorsing dual banking systems.

So apparently the US Supreme Court has just given 40 US states the green light to begin issuing their own gold and silver-backed currencies.

Quote from the SC decision:

“The United States maintains a dual system of banking, made up of parallel federal and state banking systems. That dual system allows privately owned banks to choose whether to obtain a charter from the Federal Government or from a state government.”

A distinction without a difference.

I would never use this website again as a source of information about SCOTUS decisions. They are completely dishonest gaslighters.

Correct. And davikkm posts, I mean pimps, their drek all the time...

Nobody has to sell you their state currency for your fiat.

They can demand a higher price.

If you were converting, the state would have to exchange a set amount of currency/gold for a set amount of gold/currency.

I want balkanization. That’s the only way to be free of the left and the tyrants that vote for them.

Mises Institute. Been a while since I’ve seen that referenced. That’s a bit anti-American, destructive, and just as objectionable and dead on arrival now as it was years ago. European intellectual theories have little relevance to the US unless you want to undermine us.

Conversions for 99% of us are done by banks, and they charge a fee, and they set the fee price. If you are unwilling to pay the fee, you don’t get converted, so they wouldn’t have to sell you a state currency for fiat currency either unless it is on their terms.

Again, a distinction without a difference.

Yes, banks will buy/sell a foreign currency for a fee.

That's not a commodity backed currency.

You do realize the Founding Fathers derived their principles from European intellectual ideas, right?

They have to be gold & silver backed if the story is correct.
