Why would Judge Merchan want to draw public attention to this?

There’s just something very sketchy about this public release of information from Judge Merchan in New York City. Merchan doesn’t have an integrity bone and the comment he is bringing attention toward is innocuous and random. However, Merchan could be trying to get Trump to violate the gag order aspect and talk about jurors; thereby making the sentencing worse.
According to information Merchan is providing the lawyers in the Trump case, a comment was made on the court’s FaceBook page indicating one of the jurors said the Trump guilty verdict was predetermined. [SOURCE] “My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted. Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!”
Why would Judge Merchan want to draw public attention to this?
Either something bigger is being diluted by this story, or perhaps Merchan is using it as a provocation to get Trump to talk about the jury and violate his gag order ahead of sentencing.
Or, perhaps Merchan is looking to create a mistrial to exit the case, or do it over again and extend the gag order. Also, why not include the entire quote from the Facebook Page:

There’s some kind of weird setup going on here. The judge is a total douche and has no integrity, so why would he even bring this up when he just as well hide it?

Maybe all the jurors.
The next step will likely be limited and tightly controlled questioning in court of the jurors, with the risk that one or another of the jurors will say something that impeaches the verdict. Merchan’s attitude will be seen in how quickly he moves on this issue and how broad an inquiry he allows.
Or perhaps the idiot who posted this gave the entire rigged lawfare process an out because they are headed for a quick Supreme Court case that makes the entire NY criminal justice system look really bad. It’s destroying Biden and his regime. So now they can blame it on the jury, duck out of a retrial and back out a mess in which they grossly miscalculated.
If they are angling for a mistrial without prejudice the defense should throw out every last procedural gambit to stop the new trial from starting before hell freezes over.
This whole farce blew up in their faces. And as others have said they might be trying to get out from under the landslide they’ve buried themselves in.

The original letter was TO Merchan, from the state supreme court...meaning Merchan didn’t generate it himself.
I think the state court is giving Merchan one slight open door/hint...kabash the verdict yourself, or we will do it with this one juror problem.

I think the judge was just following protocol, and this will turn out to be a troll.
Merchant can’t stand the fact that he’s no longer the most important man in the world.
The outcome was preplanned and predetermined before anything ever surfaced in public. How else were the laws changed specifically for this case if the fix was not in from day one?
Even if he’s a troll by posting that comment before the verdict he damaged Trump. This makes any subsequent appeal much smoother.

They mentioned this cluster in the beginning as one of the stories they will cover. 25 minutes later and they still haven’t got to this story. They spent 5 minutes on the summer heat terror that will kill us all. Now attacking Alito.
Merchan is PURE EVIL, and I also am suspicious of all this.
I am still watching CBS Saturday Morning News. After one entire hour they still haven’t covered the tainted juror story. But I did learn that Cricket is now all the rage in the US, and that somebody is going to stop writing about beaches in Nantucket.
The entire jury was pre determined and pre selected from a pool of about 75. This jury wasn’t summoned by a normal letter going out to random citizens. This whole country is more corrupt than any other since the Russia collusion thing and it’s just snowballing from there. The current ruler of the world is in complete charge and there’s no way Trump and rule of law will win out against Satan’s agenda.
