Sens. Durbin, Whitehouse Up Ante With John Roberts on Justice Alito's Flag Issue, There Should Be Only One Response

As their desperation grows, Democrats and their media allies have pulled out all the stops in recent weeks to try and disqualify/discredit another conservative Supreme Court Justice for the crime of WrongThink.

This time around, it's not Justice Clarence Thomas Democrats have taken aim at but Justice Samuel Alito, whose apparent sin was his wife briefly flying the American flag at their home upside down 11 days after the Capitol riot, and the "Appeal to Heaven" flag being flown at his beach house for a period of time in 2023.

Both flags, the New York Times breathlessly proclaimed, were "January 6 symbols." Naturally, they cited purported "experts" who claimed Alito had crossed the line of propriety and should immediately recuse himself from cases related to Jan. 6 and the 2020 presidential election.

Almost as though it was coordinated (because let's face it, it probably was), Democrat "leaders" in Congress including Sen. Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) rushed to the Twitter machine to accuse Alito, without evidence, of "ethical misconduct" that contributed to what he called the "ongoing ethical crisis" with the Supreme Court:

Two days later, as everyone was set to begin their Memorial Day weekend, Durbin, alongside his court-packing corruptocrat colleague Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), sent a feverish letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, demanding a meeting with him to convince him to "take appropriate steps to ensure Justice Samuel Alito recuses himself" from those cases:

“By displaying the upside-down and ‘Appeal to Heaven’ flags outside his homes, Justice Alito actively engaged in political activity, failed to avoid the appearance of impropriety, and failed to act in a manner that promotes public confidence in the impartiality of the judiciary. He also created reasonable doubt about his impartiality and his ability to fairly discharge his duties in cases related to the 2020 presidential election and January 6th attack on the Capitol. His recusal in these matters is both necessary and required,” wrote Whitehouse and Durbin.

“For centuries, Supreme Court justices conducted themselves in such a way that the absence of proper procedures consistent with these principles was a moot failing. That is no longer true. The Court’s Code of Conduct has failed to redress or prevent any of these ethics violations, largely because it contains no enforcement mechanism. Both the Court and the Judicial Conference appear to have failed to even investigate allegations of ethics violations by Supreme Court justices, much less provide any findings or sanctions,” added the senators.

Keep in mind that this is coming from the same hypocrites who would have no issues with the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg spray painting her lawn Planned Parenthood pink, and then sitting in on a Planned Parenthood/abortion-related case the next day.

Roberts, who has been compared to former Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, has long been considered the weakest link among the conservative Justices, with reports of him being fearful of the SCOTUS being viewed as politically partisan leading Democrats to frequently call on him to do their bidding.

On the one-sided "ethics reform" garbage, Roberts so far has not shown a willingness to play their games. He should continue to do so in response to their latest effort to undermine the Court, while keeping their hypocrisy in mind, as well as the infamous 2020 threat from then-Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) towards the court's conservative Justices:

Go. Pound. Sand.*
