Happy 83 birthday to the legendary Bob Dylan!

Brand new leopard skin pillbox hat. Reason I picked it is it’s the one that my lovely wife finally “got” why I, or anyone, liked Bob Dylan. After that she tolerated and acquired enough taste for Dylan that it makes the car ride and back porch listening rotation now.
Too many greats to pick one, Highway, Watchtower, where to start?
That version from the tribute I just posted is not only a great Dylan song, but a great piece of Rock and Roll. The underrated Roger McGinn way out front

“The times they’re a’changing”
Prophetic!
Like his music, dont like his satanism.
I always enjoyed listening to the story of “The Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands” a beautiful ballad that took up one whole side of the album.
Saw him once in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall when he was still big in the folk music genre. He had the audience in his hand. Moved A FINGER and the entire hall went silent. Then he played and it was pure heaven. Never seen a singer who could control so completely and receive so much respect.
His were the only albums I had in college and played them over and over again. ADORE the man.

The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keepin’ on like a bird that flew
Tangled up in blue
There is a certain aura around the artists who created new forms of music, and pushed the boundaries.
That’s what’s missing today, there’s no more originality.
I loved ‘Girl From the North Country’ so much, it wasn’t until this year that I noticed the melody was the traditional ‘Scarborough Fair...’ truly a great one.. haunting.
I concur!!!
Personal taste for sure. I’m always drawn to the Dylan songs that have some drama or quirky phrasing built in to them.
Tambourine Man was one of those many songs Dylan wrote that he didn’t put a lot of production into himself when he recorded them but became a huge gift to another artist that did put the work in…The Byrds with Tambourine Man, Jimi Hendrix with All Along the Watchtower, George Harrison with If Not For You, all the way down to Adele doing Make You Feel My Love.
Positively 4th Street.
I think Olivia Newton-John did the definitive version of “If Not For You”.
Not Dark Yet
Good song.
“ dont like his satanism”
???
Most of them are.
I’ve always wanted to do a music video with it, as well as Lay, Lady, Lay, but I’ve never found the movie or series that showed off the song.
I never connected that with Scarborough Fair. Again, streaming off my website.
