In a recent Senate Committee briefing, Dr. Robert Califf, the head of the FDA, announced proactive measures being implemented in preparation for a potential bird flu pandemic that could prove deadly to a significant portion of the infected population.
He highlighted that while the risk of transmission to humans remains low, the agency is not taking any chances, according to Daily Mail.
Dr. Califf reported that only one human case has been confirmed so far—a farm worker in Texas this past March. Despite this, the potential for the virus to mutate and spread to humans necessitates rigorous preparedness.
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) previously issued a health alert after confirming the first human case of the novel avian influenza A(H5N1) in the state.
The infected individual fell ill after coming into contact with dairy cows believed to be carrying the avian flu, with conjunctivitis being the primary symptom reported. This incident marks only the second time the avian influenza A(H5N1) virus has been identified in a human in the United States.
The case is linked to recent findings of the virus in dairy cows, as announced by the Texas Animal Health Commission.

Fortunately many of us don’t have to worry about this because we succumbed during the “winter of death” for the unvaccinated.
So seeing as many of us unvaccinated are already dead, myself included, we don’t have much to fear.

Remember the Swine flu under Obama??? They had to change the name to H1N1.... And they rolled out a quick vax. That was why really opened my eyes to our lieing government.
In my mind, one should be aware of the potential for a pandemic or other natural disaster and be prepared for them the best they can, and the way that they think they should.
The one in four number seems REALLY high though. The terrible 1918 pandemic (which in my mind was the real cause of the end of WWI) the figure in the USA was about 6 in 1,000 died. (Of course the number of dead from the flu back then is just as questionable as from Covid-19).
People love to hear that one of every four neighbors is going to die and one of every four of their relatives is going to die. That leaves a lot of stuff for them to appropriate or inherit. They will go along with the hype and lockdowns just like they did the last time.
Conservatives have always been the true party of choice, in things that matter most. Soooo many people were insisting I should wear a mask alone outdoors four years ago. Many of those were medical types. Up above me were 10,000 feet of breathable air, churning and cleansing itself with pressure gradients and breezes.

Me too. I was in 8th grade and had it. I *still* remember how painful it was because the fever wouldn't let up for days.
Only time I’ve ever been hospitalized for an illness was with complications from thr flu.
I’d gotten the flu shot that year.
Then contracted the uber nasty strain that the eggheads hadn’t chosen to include in that year’s vaxx.
Wasn’t fun.
Haven’t gotten a flu shot since the coof.
It was swine flu in the 70’s. I believe guianne-barre was the resulting illness that affected people who got that vaccine. I was in the navy at the time and refused the vaccine...almost got kicked out of the navy over it but they stopped the vaccine program before I could be courts-martialled. After the COVID crap I will take my chances with the next pandemic without a vaccine.
