I simply don’t travel by air anymore, tired of airports, delays, cancellations everything. When I did travel, one time I checked a Martin guitar and it was never found. A $5,000 guitar that just disappeared. The one or two times I did travel with a guitar after that I literally bought another ticket so my guitar could rest in the seat next to me.

Wow. Just sad. Absolutely terrible.

I feel blessed that I have not had things stolen while traveling.

It took me a year to save up enough money to buy that guitar. A Martin D-28, a beautiful instrument both cosmetically and in tone.

I recall coming back from a vacation trip through Miami International several years ago.
My garment bag came out opened. Missing my leather toiletries bag. Then the leather toiletries bag came out. I opened it and stuck it back into my garment bag.
I did not realize until I got home that my watch was missing.
It was only a Seiko, but it had been a graduation gift from my parents.

When I travel now, I never check a bag. I bring a rolling carry on that fits in the overhead and a small backpack.

I spent some time around performing musicians. Travel gigs were always a concern when your livelihood is in the hands of thieves. The older guys knew to have a backup plan at the destination in case their instrument(s) "disappeared".

Pickup gigs with only a few days to prepare, travel and play and get-out can be really stressful. Like you, those with instruments of exceptional value would buy another ticket and never let it out of your sight. Sorry for your misfortune.

To be fair, the entire state of Georgia is not Fulton County. Then again, Kemp and Ratzenberger don’t paint a very good picture either.

You can’t even mail a check anymore. At some of the more “civilized” areas around Raleigh, NC, thieves will target mailboxes with the red flag raised.

They will take all your outbound mail and if a check is found they will “wash” it and cash it for themselves.

My bet is that it’s them again Yogi, isn’t it? I didn’t see one white TSA employee at the Atlanta airport when I went through.

Credit cards are also popular USPS target.

Some years ago a coworker was waiting on one but it never arrived.......but eventually the bill did..for hundreds of dollars..and it didn’t take long for local authorities to partner with postal inspectors to identify the theif was the letter carrier.......how stupid is that? SMH

You're not alone ... I once shared a 3-seat with a nice young lady and her Cello.

“I literally bought another ticket so my guitar could rest in the seat next to me.”

I did the same for my wife. They wouldn’t let me check my baggage.

Oh we’re talking real Special Ed: Down Syndrome. ASD spectrum, Harriers, etc. These kids, my babies, are my heart. General Ed — blehh... but give me an enclosed classroom with these sweet hearts and we’re in my happy spot.

Got to spend some time in a Pre-K classroom (as a sub) and got to play hide and seek with a 5 year old sweet heart. Pure souls, absolute joy.

Now — I was an intensive reader in a ‘hood middle school. Bleh. You know the little girl who got her head bashed in by some ferals the other week? I worked with the ferals. Entitled, stupid, useless.

I’m ESE only now, and I love it. These children are pure gold.

I wear my $25 casio and tell my wife to leave any jewelry home that she cannot easily/cheaply replace.

"Educrat-speak" has devolved into bizarre euphemism to the point that it is meaningless to anyone outside the system. Thanks for decoding it. May God abundantly bless you in your work.

Harriers

???

the ferals. Entitled, stupid, useless.

One of the reasons I do not support mandatory education. Nothing is gained by insisting that schools must warehouse those creatures. Putting them in a chain-gang would be more beneficial to all.
