Donald Trump will not pick a hardline pro-life candidate as his running mate over concerns that it would be electorally unwise, according to latest reports.
NBC reported on Sunday that Trump has been asking about the positions of various potential vice-presidental picks on the issue, with particular concerns raised about Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
“The president understands it as a treacherous issue — one that you can actually trip up and fall on your face with,” said a source close to Trump. “He’s concerned it will have a drag on the ticket if they’re seen as holding too staunch a position.”
Trump’s apparent red line is someone who supports anything stricter than a six-week ban.

NBC making up stuff again. Of course msm gonna try to dent pro life enthusiasm for Trump. Trumps vp will be who it is but it won’t be bc they aren’t pro life.
Pick Alex Jones as the VP. You can bet the Left would not want Trump killed with Alex in line to replace him!
Nothing But Cr-p does not just require a grain of salt.
It requires knowing it’s a lie with an agenda to assist the leftist elite rich deep state and wholly disregarding it.
Because she’s extremely hot for a politician.
Trump does not need another Pence, and that is what he would be getting in Tim Scott.
“Surely, DJT’s wise advisors are warning him to pick a younger version of himself.”
They’re sort of an awkward history about DJT’s “wise advisors”
“Kristi Noem is a joke”
“How so? Be specific!”
What and who’s short list are you guys talking about? There’s a lot of bantering back and forth going on but I’ve never seen anything official... maybe in the last week there’s been a little bit more granularity but... it’s all just BS at this point in the timeline.
>>The pro life movement got R vs W overturned. Trump has already done enough.
Agreed - it is a states issue now. Trump is running for federal office, time to move on.
Hogwash.
There are not nearly enough voters who want a total ban on abortion to win an election. It’s as simple as that.
I'm sure there are many Democrats who are pro life but they're never mentioned.
I advocate strict 6 week abortion ban on Republican women only.
For democrats, I advocate immediate forced abortion and sterilization. /spit
Trump should pick Jennifer Ruth-Green as his running mate.
Noem is another Judas Pence.
Trump is convinced that the GOP blew the mid-terms with their stand against abortion.
Trump has floated multiple times the idea of a 16 week federal abortion law, reversing Dobbs and restricting states rights.
Now Trump does not want a strong pro-life candidate. Expect him to go to the Swamp for his running mate.
As long as a candidate does not actively advocate for abortion I don’t have a problem here.
If a person is so pro-abortion that it is the single basis for their vote, what will pandering do to win that vote?
Trump might support restoration of abortion at the federal level to 16 weeks (he has talked about this multiple times).
But Trump will not support abortion anytime, anywhere for any reason.
A fanatical pro-abortion candidate will still choose Biden, regardless if Trump moderates on the subject.
Trump isn’t pro life so it could happen.
Yep.
So what?
He doesn't need an anti-abortion hard-liner as the running mate, he needs them in his Cabinet heading up departments like HHS and DoJ.
His VP choice should be focused on getting Electoral College votes in the swing states like in Virginia, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Arizona. To that end, his VP nominee should bring immigration, education, and crime reform to the ticket.

Our PDJT, The GOAT, did his job in appointing SCOTUS candidates to help overturn Roe.
It is now, rightly, left to the States.
An aggressive Pro Life candidate isn’t needed to WIN in November. What he needs is a mechanic to dismantle the Deep State. A Border Warrior, that understands how to DEPORT the millions of illegals. A capable Trade negotiator to help drive the economy and help PREVENT WWIII.
There is enough grassroot momentum in many States to push changes where fellow citizens want it.
It’s NOT a National issue. It’s to the States.
Because we want change, doesn’t matter. Half the country disagrees.
