Donald Trump will not pick a hardline pro-life candidate as his running mate over concerns that it would be electorally unwise, according to latest reports.
NBC reported on Sunday that Trump has been asking about the positions of various potential vice-presidental picks on the issue, with particular concerns raised about Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
“The president understands it as a treacherous issue — one that you can actually trip up and fall on your face with,” said a source close to Trump. “He’s concerned it will have a drag on the ticket if they’re seen as holding too staunch a position.”
Trump’s apparent red line is someone who supports anything stricter than a six-week ban.

She wouldn’t be from Hawaii would she?
I can only say that she's seen her share of surf boards.
I hope he looks past his presidency, understanding he can’t change America in one term. He needs someone who can carry the football for another two terms.

It’s too bad so called conservatives are willing to cave on the pro-life position. We cannot sacrifice babies on the altar or politics. By caving on this issue, that is playing right into the democrats hands and giving them what they want.
His stand on abortion is why we voted for him in 2016.
Mission accomplished, Uniparty appearance of balance achieved. Yay, we can all go on believing there are people in congress who think like us! No matter what side we're on! Huzzah!
It’s not a question of “caving.” It’s a question of being strategic. Reagan could win big in 1980 and 1984, despite running on an unabashed, unapologetic anti-abortion platform but it was a different time. Roe vs. Wade was only 7(-11) years old at that point, and then, compared to now, a lot more Americans weren’t so gung-ho on abortion. Roe really could have ben and should have been overturned at that point, but Reagan whiffed on his SCOTUS picks with O’Connor and Kennedy (after the Bork debacle)... setting the stage for Roe’s unfortunate continuation for another THREE DECADES.
What happened in those 30 years? Tens of millions more women had abortions, and tens of millions more men procured and/or pressured women to have abortions; parents encouraged the abortions of their grandchildren, etc. etc. All those people have blood on their hands... but, unfortunately, they also vote. And when abortion is on the ballot or perceived to be, it’s like a referendum on their own guilt.
At this point, the best we can do is take the win with Dobbs and leave the issue to the states. Maybe after a couple more generations, when most of the post-abortive voters of our era are dead and gone, the pro-life side can do something at the nationwide level but we’re not there yet.
I’d go with Tim Scott.
At the rate we’re going, I don’t even know if this country will exist in a couple generations. The left is so determinedly working to destroy it.
I certainly do understand the reasoning behind this whole abortion issue to try to get in a conservative president, but I wonder just how much it really will work.
Will Trump changing his position really cause the Trump haters to vote for him after all? I doubt it.
Or is this a ploy by the left to push Trump in a direction that they know will turn some of his base against him? To me, this seems like the end goal of this push.
What most people don’t realize, which isn’t going to play into the election at all, is that some day, everyone will have to stand before God and give account for their lives and actions. And that is going to have far more serious consequences than the political ones we are looking at here and now.
And yet, I also realize the futility of using that argument with people who don’t even believe in God. That will never sway any election.
Tim Scott is a pathetic neocon puppet.
he clearly outlined his position on Howie Kurtz- have to have the obvious 3 limitations: rape incest life of mother and then something like Europe 12 - 15 weeks,
VR, not TG
” but he realizes that in order for a Presidential candidate to save the lives of millions of unborn babies - that candidate must WIN the election.”
He won’t do a damn thing to save babies before or after the election. He is trying to okay both sides on the issue. If it is impossible for a truly pro-life and family presidential ticket to win in the United States of America then the country is not worthy of God’s graces and is asking for a terminal chastisement Sodom and Gomorrah style.
Prescient post 👍👍

Conservatives are sick and tired of red waves fizzling from abortion issue which is now state issue. Don’t need extreme position on national level. Why help Biden get re-ekected?
I don’t trust Tim Scott anyway.
Apparently she's not anymore according to this.
I wish I had a nickel for every breathless “Report!!! Here’s who Trump is picking for VP...” from some “mouthpiece” that in reality doesn’t know squat. I’d have quite a few nickels and they add up.
Thank goodness for other reasons. Both would be lousy choices for VP. Noem is too corporate and Tim Scott is a straight up RINO. If he picked Scott, I think the Deep State would take him out within a year. He needs to pick someone the Deep State fears worse than they fear him. JD Vance, Kari Lake, Matt Gaetz, maybe Vivek.....somebody like that.
Abortion is the only really motivator they have for their harpy base. It’s pretty dumb since many of them are past birthing age anyway. Trump is surprisingly wise to not pick an abortion absolutist since Democrats love to frighten women with Handmaid’s Tale imagery to hide their own absolutism to achieve their goals of unlimited partial and post birth abortions.
