Donald Trump has held a narrow but consistent lead in just about every poll for several months now—having never led in the polls in either the 2016 and 2020 election cycles. More significant is where this lead has come from. Trump has not improved his share of white vote at all; his improved standing has come from huge gains in minority votes, as John pointed out recently in drawing our attention to a Financial Times meta-analysis of polls going back several cycles. That chart, in case you don’t remember, looks like this:
Nate Silver looks closer at the trend in a new Substack, noting a breakdown compiled by Adam Carlson that looks at voting group and age that produced this terrifying (for Democrats) table:
Note especially the numbers for the shifts in blacks and hispanics in the right-hand column.

Well, I guess the dems will have to look for a way to cause a crisis that cancels the election...
I sure wouldn’t put it past them. They know it’s all over if they lose this election, and lots of them may just be going to prison too.
In general, we can hope that the Dems turned the heat up so fast that the American frog has woken up and will jump out of the pot in time.
Bush was a fraud too
Problem long term is lost Trump.
Trump will take minorities (enough of them) to make a dem

So need the post Trump folks
…but those key factors will not keep Democrats from voting for Biden, (against Trump). I doubt that “issues” will play a role in this election. It is Biden vs Trump, and people will vote accordingly.
My take on this election for the last year or so was that the economy would improve just enough to drag Biden’s carcass over the finish line. But inflation is stubbornly high, prices just are not coming down. And now some of the froth in the stock market seems to be subsiding. Unemployment is pretty good but it is not nearly as important as inflation and wages/prices for the average voter. I am cautiously optimistic at this point that the average voter is going to remain sour on the economy through the election and this will be enough to get Trump over the hump.
It’ll be another red tsunami like in 2022! /s
Don’t speak negatively?
I agree. If Newt Gingrich was running the House of Representatives, that's what he would do. He was pretty good with strategy. I haven't seen anyone in the GOP who's that good since Newt.
!
Trump just today said he's working on a compromise "that will make both sides happy" on abortion. It's likely to include a ban on abortion after a certain number of weeks as well as exceptions for rape, incest, and the mother's health. It most certainly will not be a total ban.
It's likely to fall in line with most Americans' views on abortion while making the zealots on either side of the issue unhappy.
Anyways, don't care about abortion. Tired of losing elections over it.
This is Swamp thinking.
When you have achieved a lead talking about political persecution, DRAIN THE SWAMP, and Build the Wall . . . why in hell would you then choose to start talking about abortion.
The correct answer to all abortion questions is . . . The Swamp is filled with Swamp filth and we are going to get rid of them, and an important step in this process is Build The Wall.
Then the follow up question about abortion is replied to like so: They have persecuted myself and others for purely political reasons. We Are Going To Drain The Swamp.
That is how you handle abortion. Do not give it even a 2 second sound bite.
Change your Name if you expect to be taken seriously.
Yer better. Good.
The only thing the People hate worse than Democrats is - Republicans.
Here’s a question Surrender Monkeys Why didn’t the rodents use their use their infallible can’t miss cheating system to steal the House? Here’s another question Do you have any idea of the aims and credentials of Michael Whatley?
Oh and one if the New York times said Trump is + 5 in early March when will that number collapse?
ARE DEMS HEADING FOR EXTINCTION-LEVEL ELECTION?
Yes.
He doesn’t have to be pro or anti abortion, just make it clear he is not for a national ban. Give lip service to both and leave it to the states. That’s how he can thread the needle.
If the Dems cancel the election I hope the courts would tell them: “Ok. But come January none of your candidates may take office. Their opponents win by default.”
