This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Christmas morning mass cruise missile launches against Ukraine by Russian strategic bombers and Kalibr cruisers and subs just now.
“Christmas morning mass cruise missile launches against Ukraine”
Vile.
Orthodox Christmas comes later, but they know it is Western Christmas, and that Hanukkah is starting.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah to all, especially those under the guns of the evil empire.
I just finished watching the 15+ min. video by marine historian Sal Mercogliano. He provides a lot of information about this ship, Ursa Major, and its very poor condition including having around a dozen major problems identified in a fairly recent German safety inspection. The problem in general is that Russia does NOT do preventive maintenance on its machinery. They often don’t fix things pointed out to them. Between the theft of allocated funds by Oligarchs, inadequate supplies of parts, and relative incompetence and poor morale of crews/workers nothing Russian is properly maintained, whether ships, submarines, aircraft, or tanks. Poor leadership (captains) can make it worse as crew are afraid to complain for fear of being sent to the meat wave department.
While the speaker mentioned the possibility of sabotage, he seemed inclined to lean toward the poor maintenance side of the argument. Apparently there was an explosion within the engine room at the rear of the ship which was strong enough to blow a hole in the metal hull. The problem of requiring ships to do jobs they were not suited for was an issue. Russia has been using vessels for river and lake use at sea in sea conditions. This ship came down from England to Portugal in a major storm and was hugging the indented French coast the whole time rather than taking a straight course. When it sank in the Mediterranean, the sea was clear and calm. When the 3 tankers recently came part in the Black Sea and sank causing a major oil spill, they had very stormy conditions. Cutting large ships in two, removing a middle chunk and welding the front and back parts together does not make a storm worthy craft. Russians are also reluctant to seek help, for fear an inspection may discover illegal cargo stored below. An interesting history fact is that when Putin failed to accept US help recovering the crew of his sunken submarine, the 5 day delay in rescue guaranteed a crew of corpses.
There were many, many comments. I read about 100, and of those at least 1/5th added interesting information to the discussion. One provided a very effective way to set up an explosion to occur days after the ship went to sea. The commenters seemed more inclined to guess sabotage than the historian. They were struck with 5 recent ship sinkings, but did not know the facts behind the 3 tankers coming apart at the welded seams. There was general agreement on the rotten condition of Russian equipment—air, sea, and ground.
I recommend this interesting link. Merry Christmas, and to all, a Good Night.
I forgot to mention something important in Comment #9923. On board, visible to all were 2 whole freight cranes and 2 extremely heavy hatch plates designed for nuclear covering. It was said these 4 items were headed for Vladivostok in far east Russia. However, it would have made sense to disconnect some crane parts and ship flat for such a long voyage. Some suggested they were bound for a new Russian base in Libya. It was also suggested there was something very SECRET in the hold that might have been connected with the giant hatch covers.
In this episode, Sal Mercogliano discusses the loss of a third Russian river tanker in and around the Black Sea, what is causing these losses, and what the bigger issues facing the Russian gas and oil export industry.
A Russian cargo ship sank in the Mediterranean Sea on December 23, possibly while traveling from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok via Syria and Libya. Spanish media reported on December 24 that the Russian Ursa Major cargo ship sank in the Mediterranean Sea between Spain and Algeria, and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) confirmed that the dry cargo ship sank after an explosion in the engine room.[11] The Russian Ministry of Defense's (MoD) Oboronlogistika logistics company, which owns the Ursa Major, claimed in a press release from December 20 that the vessel was traveling to Vladivostok with two cranes necessary to expand the city's port terminal and 45-ton hatch covers for new icebreakers.[12] Oboronlogistika claimed that the vessel was going to develop port infrastructure and the Northern Sea Route. Ship tracking services showed that the vessel left St. Petersburg on December 11.[13] Russian media reported that the captain of the Ursa Major stated that the ship was carrying empty containers on board.[14] The Maritime Executive reported that automatic identification system (AIS) data showed that the Russian cargo ship Sparta came to the aid of the Ursa Major following the explosion.[15] Ukraine's Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) recently stated that the Sparta and the Sparta II cargo ships were en route from Russia to the Port of Tartus to evacuate Russian military assets from Syria.[16] The presence of the hatch covers for new icebreakers on the Ursa Major is consistent with Oboronlogistika's statement that the ship was travelling to Vladivostok. Russia may have diverted the ship to the Port of Tartus to evacuate Russian military assets from Syria. Russia has reportedly started moving military assets from Syria to Libya, and the Ursa Major may have planned to relocate military assets from Syria to Libya before continuing on to Vladivostok.[17] The sinking of the Ursa Major may complicate and slow Russian efforts to evacuate military assets from the Port of Tartus.
Belarusian officials emphasized increases in Belarusian trade with Russia in 2024. The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange's (BUCE) Foreign Economic Activity Department Deputy Head, German Puzyrny, stated on December 24 that Belarusian enterprises’ exports to Russia via the BUCE increased by 9.5 times between January and November 2024.[89] Minsk City Executive Committee First Deputy Chairperson, Nadezhda Lazarevich, stated on December 24 that Belarusian exports to Moscow Oblast increased by 15 percent in 2024 as compared to 2023 and that industrial products, such as vehicles, freight railway cars, trams, railway cars, and electronic integrated circuits, and automotive parts, accounted for most of the Belarusian exports to Moscow Oblast.[90]

The new treaty, potentially occurring just days prior to Trump's inauguration on January 20, signals an attempt by the two nations to combine their respective powers in the face of growing isolation on the world stage. Russia and Iran are members of what analysts at the Center for New American Security have dubbed the Axis of Upheaval, a group of states, which also features China and North Korea, that have increasingly positioned themselves as opponents of Western powers.
The two nations have been heavily sanctioned and censured by the U.S. and its allies over the past few years, the former as a result of the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and the latter because of concerns over alleged, covert attempts to develop nuclear weapons as well as the actions of its military proxies in the Middle East.

Three Russian Leaders were planned, one -- Rossiya -- is in construction scheduled for completion in 2030, or later.
The other two Leaders were dropped from plans.
Ursa Major carried cargo for Vladivostok, including nuclear icebreaker reactor hatches!

Even so, the Russian nuclear powered fleet far out strips anything the US has, or has on contract, or even in conception.
We have one decrepit, nearly broken down, heavy that is, in its prime, inferior.
True, and that is an issue, except the attic will be ice free in …..lol
Will see if we get on the stick or perhaps Elon can start a venture 😂
Russia shoots down another civilian airliner for Christmas this year. Dozens more lives sacrificed to Putin’s greed and lust for power.
Kyiv Independent reports:
“The Azerbaijani Airlines plane that crashed on Dec. 25 en route to Russia may have been shot down by a Russian surface-to-air missile, according to reports from independent Russian media outlets.
The aircraft, carrying passengers from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny in Russia’s Chechen Republic, crashed near the coastal city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.
There were 67 people on board the aircraft, including 42 Azerbaijani citizens, 16 Russians, six Kazakhs, and three Kyrgyz citizens. Thirty eight people have perished in the crash, according to the latest information.
The potential use of air defense systems aligns with several media reports according to which Chechnya was attacked by drones on the morning of Dec. 25.
Footage of the plane shows traces of a large surface-to-air missile impact on the tail section of the plane, according to Russian independent media outlet Meduza. Similar-looking holes in the fuselage have reportedly been documented in numerous images and videos of military and civilian aircraft downed by surface-to-air missiles.
Survivors recalled hearing an explosion after failed landing attempts in Grozny, according to the independent Russian outlet Mediazona. The plane then turned back, crossing the Caspian Sea toward Kazakhstan. Upon attempting to land at Aktau Airport, it broke apart on impact and caught fire.
Meduza and Mediazona also cited Russian pro-war Telegram channels which showed photographs of the crash that suggested the plane had been shot at.”
