This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Russia passed a law in 2022, that forced private banks to issue loans to Russian Defense companies, on terms dictated by the Government. We can assume that the capital was in turn loaned to the banks to do that, by the Russian Central Bank, using newly created rubles (which would significantly account for the expansion in the money supply that has been occurring in Russia). The study’s author, Kennedy, called these loans “the main contributor to monetary expansion”.
Those companies are largely (if not entirely) still operating at a loss, raising the risk that those loans will eventually stop performing. The likely outcome, is that the Government will have to bail out the banks and assume those loans - making the whole scheme a way of kicking the can down the road a few years, before reflecting the expense to the Government.
If you add this extra 20 trillion rubles of spending via the soft loans with the on budget spending, the true level of Russian military spending on the Ukraine War is around 18% of GDP. Gazprom is loading up with debt as well, to keep its boat afloat.
On 28 Oct 2024, Putin had a high level meeting to discuss problems around the “structure and dynamics” of Russia’s “corporate debt portfolio”. The Russian Central Bank report said “Unlike the slow-burn risk of inflation, credit event risk — such as corporate and bank bailouts — is seismic in nature: it has the potential to materialize suddenly, unpredictably and with significant disruptive force, especially if it becomes contagious”.
