Britain’s House of Commons was thrown into chaos last night, and its Speaker is under heavy attack for violating arcane procedural customs having to do with amendments on “Opposition Day.” I won’t try to untangle the procedural questions; what is relevant is what caused the House to be tied up in knots.
Speaker Lindsay Hoyle was trying to save Labour members from potentially having to vote against a resolution by the Scottish Independence Party that “called for an immediate ceasefire [in Gaza] and condemned the ‘collective punishment’ of Palestinians.” Why was Hoyle trying to avert the necessity to vote on that resolution?
Not just for political reasons, but because a Muslim mob had gathered in Parliament Square and members were fearful for their safety...

Profound. I bet you are right. It would be a good thing too. I’m no Putin fan, but I see that Islam is evil to the core.
It can be hard for an American to understand why anyone would welcome a dictator, be it Caesar, Napoleon, Mussolini, or Hitler. I think these dictators were all popular. I can only conclude that the environment was dire, either due to corruption of leaders, or lawlessness, or both.

Prophet of Doom is the best-documented, most comprehensive, presentation of Islam’s five oldest and most reliable scriptural sources. Ishaq’s Biography of Muhammad, Tabari’s History of Islam, and Bukhari’s and Muslim’s Hadith, were used to reorder the Qur’an chronologically and to set its surahs into the context of Muhammad’s life. When this evidence is evaluated systematically, the only rational conclusion is that Islam’s lone prophet was a ruthless terrorist, a mass-murderer, a thief, slave trader, rapist and pedophile.

Yesterday, the British Parliament changed the way it operates because the Speaker was afraid that some parliamentarians would be murdered if they couldn't be seen to vote for a ceasefire in a war on the other side of the world.
This isn't democracy. This is a country that is unwilling to live by its own rules in order to placate a violent mob.
And efforts are already being made to sweep this reality under the carpet as they did with the murder of Sir David Amess. We can't afford that. We have to be honest and admit it:
We have a problem with Islamist extremism that requires immediate and drastic action. Appeasement doesn't work. If intimidation and threats of violence produce results like the one we saw yesterday, this will only encourage more intimidation and threats of violence.
The government, both the major parties, the police and the security services need to understand we no longer have the luxury of pretending this issue away.
People who threaten violence should be arrested and locked up for a very long time. If the threats are directed against elected MPs, that is an attempt to subvert our democracy and should be treated as such, i.e. met with severe sentences.
Foreign nationals who engage in, call for, fund or glorify violence, religious hatred or other violent extremism should be deported immediately.
We must be honest with ourselves. If we do not act now, as sadly I am certain we won't, the result will be more violence and more intimidation. It is not a pleasant truth to have to admit but things will only get worse if we refuse to speak it.
