West Coast Braces for Meteorological Drama… Snow by the Feet Predicted, East Enjoys Unseasonable Warmth
Citizen Watch Report ^

Prepare for nature’s grand spectacle as a potent cyclone, fueled by an intense atmospheric river, takes aim at the West Coast. While not reaching the legendary ARkStorm 1000 status, this system promises significant impacts, with the next few days poised to be the most intense. Intriguingly, snowflakes dance over the ocean as cold Alaskan air journeys south, setting the stage for a mountain snow extravaganza in the Western U.S. Snow accumulations measured by the feet, hurricane-force wind gusts, and the formation of a cyclonic structure reminiscent of tropical storms—all elements contributing to this atmospheric symphony.

I live in Tacoma, WA. The current temperature at 0854 hours is 53 degrees. I don’t see much chance of snow at the moment.

Yeah, I'm working in my office today in Tacoma and hear it will be pushing 60 degrees today! But.... rainy...lol.

Here in Ohio we often get a January thaw but not every year. We didn’t get one this year, although it was a mild month. Yeah, weather varies, can’t imagine why anyone would make a fuss about whether it exists or not. Somebody must have needed to add an easy publication to his CV.

That is warm for NYS winter. Same as here in southern NH. We have not been below 7 above. Typically EVERY winter we get sub zero weather in January. Anywhere from -5 to -13 below zero.
We received 5” snow Sunday night. Wet heavy snow. Some of the ski areas are still not fully open. Only the snow mobile trails in the northern most part of NH are open.

SNOW is good for the economy of NH, ME & VT in the winter. People/companies depend on it for a big part of the yearly income. Just like it is in the Adirondacks.

“ Happens more years than not.”

Hell, it happened last year. Just a few weeks earlier last year.

NO, its now a BOMB CYCLONE.

I think the Weather Channel came up with that name because it sounds scary.

It probably gets Karens to go buy milk and bread.

Thanks.

I really dislike it when journalists/scientists invent new (scary) names for things or else use existing names that are really obscure and just expect everyone to be impressed with how “technical” the reporting happens to be. My position is that only about 0.0001% of the readers have heard the term ARkStorm1000 before.

Here in Western Washington, two weeks ago we had unusually cold weather for a week or more, but no snow in the lowlands. The past few days, we have had unusually warm weather, even getting into the low 60s yesterday. I think we could use some snow in the mountains, both for the skiers and for the summer water supply.

I read a story that WA rivers are running dry, threatening hydroelectric dams. Hard to know how real or serious these claims are, but maybe this storm will help fix that.

The west coast leftards now wont feel as guilty having that 2nd glass of water, lest they participate in helping destroy the planet.
