Got a call from my dealership earlier today asking if I was interested in upgrading my 2013 and 2014 vehicles to a newer one. Said no thanks, both are running fine, and I intend to keep them for a few more years.
Dealers were gouging in ‘22 even for used. Karma’s a bitch. Suck it.
And then you have to pay property tax and insurance on top of that!
Go, for fun, compare farm equipment and parts. The family farm is getting squeezed hard.
I still have my 2002 F-150. I had to get a new truck 2 years ago and paid 38,000 dollars for a 2020 Ranger with 20,000 miles on it. The F-150 is still running great. If I have to get a new truck then I’ll buy a Japanese Kei truck. The rent is too damn high and so are price of trucks.
$95,000? Even with an $44,000 discount I couldn’t touch it.
Dealerships are desperate for used vehicles.
I plugged my wifes car info into Carvana the other day to see what they’d give me for it then I went to the sales side and found a few comparable to hers......they uped the price from buying it from me to reselling $8,000 dollars.
Auto dealers are freakin’ crooks straight up.
Probably the most important one.
Not to mention ford f150s are notorious for electrical issues and have been for a while.
Kudos. Big government is the BIG issue.
Check out the Fed history, and note that the WWII event was short lived. Now with the national debt rocketing upwards, big government with big debt is an explosive issue.

Businesses are trying to survive while been bigly conned into much by big government.
Big Government is ripping most of us off.
We have a "new" F150 SuperCrew. 2015. Just turned over 103,000 miles. The F150 pickups are perfect for the Pocatello weather. When the weather is nice, there are 9 motorcycles in the garage that get excellent mileage. All 50+ MPG. The most frugal is the Yamaha SR400 at 66 MPG.
The best access is pink slips. We have them for all the vehicles.
Especially for when the 2010 one I have now only cost about $23. Pretty wheels with a couple dozen nuts on the rim isn’t worth 60-70 grand more.
Here’s a brand new F-150 with the 10 speed and a V8 for less that half the invoice price. Wonder if Ford is still making a profit on this unit?

It's easier to find a parking place for, anyway.
Government fleet sales.
That’s what keeps them going.
The bigger the government, the more they keep going.
Yeah, it’s socialism.
I remember there was a bar of soap my grandmother would buy for our beach cabin. It had a distinct smell that reminded me of summer and sand and getting clean before riding my bike back to her house. As I got older I was never able to find that soap brand. Then I joined the Army and there it was. Plain black and white wrapping, “Soap Personal” or some such, with an NSN to it.
Sometimes when companies get the big, lucrative govt. contract they withdraw from private industry. Too much time and work to compete. Looks like US car makers are going that route.
When I bought my house in 1978 I was making about 800 a month. I could have assumed the loan on the house next door for 450 a month and i thought “What the hell am i going to do with another house and where would i get an extra 450 a month”?
Seems outrageous to cheap-ole-me.
For grins I went to a local Central Kentucky Ford dealership website, and they have 40 F-150s in stock starting at $45,625 and go up to $76,662. Some only have V-6s but others have V-8s.
My house payment - with taxes - was just over 1070.00 for 20 years. Paid it off. Now appraised at over 290,000.00
95 K for F150!
Ouch!
What kind of margin do you think auto dealers should have? It frustrates me when people complain about what the dealer gave them for their car and what the dealer ends up selling it for.
For example, let’s say for a business it seeks a margin of 30% for used cars because that is what allows them to pay the bills, prepare the car for resale, and still make some profit. In this case, let’s say a dealer offers you $14,000 for you car. After applying 30% margin, the price is $20,000.Now the profit is not really $6000, because they assume the risk of not selling it, they spend money getting ready to sell it, they have to pay for ongoing operations, and local, state, and federal taxes.
I don’t think that is ripping you off. I am in no way associated with the car industry, but I have had to deal with people that complain about the price of things when they find out the cost, without considering the facts, or the entire reason one decides to provide a service in the first place - to make a living.
