While supporters of former President Donald Trump may have been getting increasingly excited about the possibility of a certain former Fox News host being chosen as Trump’s running mate, but one man who has been very close to the former president’s political thinking in the past has a message for those folks:

Don’t get your hopes up.

Steve Bannon, who served as both the chief executive of Trump’s 2016 campaign and as a senior adviser to the president after the election told Sean Spicer on Thursday that he expected Trump to choose a woman as his potential vice president.

IMO, he really needs to find someone who’s not very well known - someone who’s competent and committed to the cause, but who’s not looking for the job. A reluctant warrior. Someone who would never think of running for president on their own but who would take the job if offered to him, out of a sense of duty. That may be the best way to ensure the person is loyal and has no other agenda.

Who exactly among Trump supporters would prefer a female?

If you can pick someone who is MAGA but also helps with some key demographics to get elected, it would still be better than Mike Pence or any RINO. He's got men, he's got evangelicals, he's got his core base.

If Trump can swing over more women and get back some of the Republicans voters who are still angry about COVID and his continuing to praise "operation warp speed" (which is ego-driven and/or a strategy for moderates/independents), that would give him even greater numbers.

Believe me, I’m as pro-Trump as they come (I support him 100%), but facts are facts. He got hoodwinked by the swamp on COVID, and hasn’t atoned (and may never).

Both she and Lewandowski vehemently denied it. I don’t know how it could be specifically debunked, as they haven’t provided any proof. Seemed like an early hit job to me to try and take her out of the running (and also yo maybe keep Lewandowski out of Trump’s staff).

Trump talked a lot about Operation Warp Speed as one of his personal successes. He's keeping that down a bit lately (thankfully). It's really a perception issue. Maybe his weakest spot.

And the "two weeks to flatten the curve" was technically not a federal mandate, but it sure as hell seemed like one.
