Fox News host Greg Gutfeld slammed his own network while defending Tucker Carlson in a moment that left the studio audience stunned. Gutfeld also seemed to imply that Fox News is part of the "censorship industrial complex."
Gutfeld praised Musk for refusing to bend the knee to the cancel culture campaign targeting his X social media platform and defending free speech. Gutfeld lauded Musk for telling off "cowardly advertisers" who caved to pressure from progressive activists, and said Musk standing for what he believes is "how it's done."
"The fact is, Musk may be the last man standing between real freedom of speech and the suffocating block of this censorship industrial complex, which is made up of government, media, and tech forces," Gutfeld said in a possible veiled shot at his employer – Fox News.

Very gutsy of Gutfeld!
First, he became the so-called "King of late-night." Fox News even built a live set and bought a Super Bowl ad for the Gutfeld show.
Then, after Fox fires Carlson and revamps the prime-time lineup, Gutfeld is moved to 10:00PM, no longer directly competing with the other late-night shows.
That move right there makes me wonder if the executives at Fox were more motivated to ease off on the competition than to dominate them. It's almost like they wanted to protect Colbert and Fallon rather than to crush them.
Second, Gutfeld's show is always preempted during breaking news. On the surface that is to be expected. Gutfeld is taped at around 6:00pm for broadcast later, so it's easy to just not run it. The burr under Gutfeld's skin is that he's never asked to participate in the breaking news; it's either Dana Perino, Jesse Watters, or Harold Ford, Jr.
Third, Gutfeld has (what I believe) is a sibling rivalry going on with Watters. Watters got the Carlson timeslot and is seen as a "legitimate news" journalist where Gutfeld is seen as a clown. Gutfeld brought that image onto himself with his scatological humor and deprecating comments he makes during the 5:00pm show (his appearance on Bill Maher's show didn't help). He probably thought he had more power because he was responsible for getting rid of Juan Williams and Geraldo Rivera from The Five, but he sees Watters rising in his career while Gutfeld has probably peaked in his.
Even the live studio is being used for other shows now.
That's why a part of me thinks that Gutfeld is pushing the limits, trying to get fired. Maybe the executives are pushing the limits, hoping Gutfeld will either quit or cross the line somewhere. Who knows? But this game of chicken is likely to not end well for Gutfeld. He may not have the audience outside of Fox that he has now because those market outlets are already saturated.

Saw the show. Title is nonsense.
we could replace fox with an AI network
Gutfeld doesn’t need FNC. FNC needs Gutfeld. Both FNC and Gutfeld know it. .

they needed tucker too. but they fired him anyway.
disney bowed the knee to the woke. maybe they knew what would happen. maybe they knew that they would destroy their brand. but they did it anyway.
Circus freaks all of them. Screw tHem ALL, no one on the boob tube is telling even a fraction of the truth and the internet is WORSE than useless.
Maybe Greg is Jones ing to cash in with his own podcast lime Mehgan and Tucker. Wants to get fired. Who can blame him?
I think you’ve put more intelligent thought into Gutfeld’s place in the pecking order than any of the actual players. Then again, it’s hard for most to see the larger picture when totally absorbed by the current moment.
I think Greg and his intellect SHOULD, with Carlson and any other truth-tellers, do their own channel with the long-discarded good documentaries used as fillers. The SMART Channel. Just a dream.
No need to to imply that Fox News is part of the censorship industrial complex it’s obvious.
CNN Two
If they dump him, they’re crazy. His show has the highest ratings for late night talk shows. Not to mention The Five. But if they do, he will surely land on his feet.

I wouldn’t have known any of that because I haven’t watched Fox News in 20 years.

Per our recent conversation regarding Fox.
I didn’t see it. Nobody “gasps” anymore. And they are generally not “reeling” from news of an event.
Thanks!
I watched the show LIVE and the audience didn’t gasp. The audience was for the most part quiet or as a comedic moment might be described... flat. I believe the audience was flat because they were digesting or processing the implications of the commentary. The window of understanding was in the 1 to 1.5-second range, so it wasn’t some earth-shattering pause or uncomfortable delayed reaction. Anyone watching it LIVE didn’t even notice the audience’s reaction. Only now in review and in hindsight, does one even notice the audience’s reaction, which is tepid at best.
This is a giant nothing burger.
Thanks for the ping!
Maybe Trump should start his own network—Hire all the Old Fox people? Or Musk could start one—with a conservative view? Who should he hire for his new Freedom Network>? Tucker? Megan Kelly? Glen Beck?
Good going Gutfeld!
