All things considered, Peggy Noonan must be the worst columnist in the United States. That is a rash judgment, I concede. She certainly has a lot of competition over at the New York Times. For the combination of fatuity and self-love, however, she must be in a class by herself. In her weekly Wall Street Journal column published in the paper on November 4 (whole thing here) Noonan opined:
We continue to think in this space [editor’s translation: Peggy Noonan continues to think] that the invasion and bombardment of Gaza was a mistake, and not only because of the intractable question of who will govern it when the Israelis are done.
After the morning of 10/7 Israel was a wounded and grieving nation. It had endured a profound and gruesome shock; everyone in the country knew someone among the dead or abducted. In the world, those with a fully developed moral interior suddenly saw Israel differently. In their shock, opponents felt an easing of their coldness, supporters a quickening of their warmth.

The 4 or 5 goat herders that will be wondering around in the ruble can always sit around the camp fire and vote on who gets to graze where.
I think full autonomy for them and the 18 goats they have would be a good idea.

Peggy doesn’t understand radical Muslims anymore than she understands why people support Trump. In Peggy’s world true ‘evil’ doesn’t exist. In her world you ‘reflect and grow’ from adversity.
In the real world you’re wounded and could die.
Netanyahu’s world requires he show ‘crazy strength’ or he and his country will be steamrolled out of existence. It’s the lesson Trump is teaching us about the real world too - - goons, thugs and terrorists are out there and they’ll fight to the death if need be. The only way to survive is to fight back - to never cower in front of them.
Netanyahu knows Peggy’s world and he would love to live in it - along with his countrymen. But Peggy is clueless about Netanyahu’s world. She’s an idiot kewpie doll...

Noonan’s conclusions are moronic but she does touch on a topic that is being ignored. What should happen to Gaza when this is over? Left to their own devices you will have the next iteration of Hamas within years if not months. Gazans have shown themselves to be unwilling to coexist peacefully and I don’t see show Israel gets peace without expelling or completely subjugating the Gazans.

Peggy Noonan passed her sell-by date about twenty years ago.
Couldn’t stand her before, can’t stand her now. She’s so full of herself and the way she talks drives me up the wall....spit!!
Peggy is a stupid, rich, liberal New Yorker. She thinks that if Israel plays the forgiving victim of a great crime, the world will embrace her. Noonan is insane. That’s not how the world works. Weakness invites another massacre. The reason Israel will occupy Gaza is to prevent the return of the Hamas terrorist state. Otherwise the job isn’t done.
