The headline comes from a David Burge (“Iowahawk”) Tweet about this letter from Jewish students about events on campus at MIT yesterday:

To all students at MIT,

Today, Jewish and Israeli MIT students were physically prevented from attending class by a hostile group of pro-Hamas and anti-Israel MIT students that call themselves the CAA [Coalition Against Apartheid, apparently].

This is after students from the CAA harassed MIT staff members in their offices for being Jewish and interrupted classes in the past few weeks. All of this has occurred with no clear response from the administration. With each passing day, MIT admin’s silence makes Jewish and Israeli students feel unsafe at MIT.

Many Jewish students fear leaving their dorm rooms and have stated that they feel MIT is not safe for Jews. This message is compounded by the public and private warnings of Hillel and many faculty that Jewish students should not enter MIT’s main lobby today, November 9th, 2023.

Instead of dispersing the mob or de-escalating the situation by rerouting all students from Lobby 7, Jewish students specifically were warned not to enter MIT’s front entrance due to a risk to their physical safety. The onus to protect Jewish students should not be on the students themselves.

Not to take issue with you - as your comment *clearly* indicates that you are a decent person who is opposed to these and similar acts of hatred - but I am getting rather tired of the term, “anti-semitic.” Let’s call this thing what it really is: Jew-hatred.

The statement that we’re used to hearing regarding the Holocaust is “Never again.” But it isn’t the complete statement, which is: “Never again; but if again, then not for free.” Let’s hope that it never comes to this, but I hope that if it does, that the “again” part is incredibly expensive. MIT is my undergraduate alma mater!

It’s time for MIT to call Palestinian disruptors what they are—savages—and to expel ALL the savages from its student body!! It is also time to have the non-MIT-affiliated savages disrupting its campus arrested, and to prosecute them to the full extent of the law!!!!

To heck with “diversity”!! Make MIT safe for all its students, faculty, and alumni again!!

MIT is afraid that if it expels its Palestinian disruptors, they will be deported! GOOD!!!!

And Harvard (my graduate alma mater) needs to take care that what is happening at MIT doesn’t happen there, too!!!!
