Recent polling that highlighted President Joe Biden’s weakened chances of winning reelection in 2024 set the Democrat Party ablaze with infighting about how to revamp the president’s frail image, campaign strategy, and growing anxiousness among Democrats that former President Donald Trump could oust the 80-year-old from office.
The Democrats’ disarray, which appears to border on panic, is a positive sign for Republicans’ chances of retaining the House and retaking the Senate and the White House. Republicans are cautiously optimistic they can carry the current momentum into election day still a full year away — is an eternity in politics. The political environment is likely to change.
The Democrats’ reaction to Sunday’s startling New York Times/Siena College polling was one of alarm. The poll showed Trump leads Biden is five of the six battleground states. It also revealed Biden has a growing problem with retaining the support of black and Hispanic voters, key demographic profiles Democrats rely on to maintain power.
Politico, NBC News, and the Washington Post highlighted the alarm on Monday and Tuesday with articles warning Democrats about Biden’s tenuous political position and what to do about it. Politico’s Jonathan Lemire, Adam Cancryn, Holly Otterbein, and Elena Schneider reported the Democrats’ confusion about whether to talk up Biden’s alleged political successes or focus on negatively portraying Trump, Joe Biden’s likely opponent.
“Discussions are taking place among Biden brass about how much to prioritize positive campaigning over negative. And allies are calling directly for a more aggressive approach,” Politico reported:
But the idea of making the election more about Biden’s predecessor than Biden himself remains hotly debated. One national Democratic strategist close to the campaign said it’s imperative that the campaign do everything in its power to make voters aware of what Biden’s done in office.

How? His goose is cooked with his domestic and foreign policies. The only practical way for the Dems to hang on is war. Lots of war.
Maybe they will trot out Hillary, to explain how Trump’s supporters are racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.

Yes, yes it is... but not in the way the Democrats’ think.
Biden can run if he wants, but I think the plan for Biden and the eventual nominee is already in place and I still say Biden won’t run and the back-room pick is whoever Obama wants and that’s Michelle. I pay no attention to the “she doesn’t want it” because she will just be a do-nothing plant like Biden, what I see now is Obama’s third term is ending and he wants 4 and 5 next. Dem insiders don’t want to try the amount of cheating it would take to reelect Biden and he’s too far gone mentally to last very long anyway.

Our elections don’t remotely resemble true voting results. We have one side that cheats and another that enables it.
The only reason they might be scared is if they are not sure they can cheat enough again to win for Biden.
If they make this campaign about Trump, Biden loses, because people like Trump.
But if they make this campaign about Biden, Biden still loses, because people don’t like Biden.
Problem is, war only trumps economy if it’s a real war. Like the enemy is attacking us and blowing our schtuff up. Not proxy wars half a planet away.
He won’t get a second term. Not too long before the election, something “mysterious” (death?) will happen to Joe and he will no longer be able to run. The Dems will have someone groomed and waiting in the wings to step in. (Newsome?)

Well, of course you don’t. You’ve been wrong about Michelle Obama for seven years now, I guess you want to keep at it.

I think Joe can probably make it to the convention, but if a sudden health crisis makes him drop out on the eve of the convention, the Democrats will have to scramble and get a viable candidate within 24-48 hrs. Who could it be? Possibly Newsome. Possibly Hillary. But I think Michelle is the obvious favorite. Barack can make a stirring speech, Michelle can stand up and wave, and it’s a done deal.
If Biden is too decrepit by mid-2024 they may have to replace him with someone else, maybe Newsom...and replace Kamala with a black or Hispanic woman from some state other than California. If it still looks like Trump will win, even if they have put him in prison, they will announce that he committed suicide in prison. I don’t think there is any way that the powers that be will let Trump become President again.
