I told my kids (and they’ve told their kids) that “some people believe in Santa and no is really sure”. That was good enough for my kids while they were young enough to entertain mental conflict comfortably.
No more baklava for you!!!
I can accept your reasoning because society coupled with fables fostered through religious lies begets the culture we find ourselves in.
Let me explain my stance however in a different perspective....
Imagine yourself (reader) as a grandparent. Your grandchild comes to you and regurgitates what he/she has been told about our founding fathers, and the United States Constitution from a modern day revisionist Marxist ideological point of view.
Imagine as well the parents of your grandchild also adhering to the same ideology as your grandchilds teacher.
Do you, for the sake of rendering peace agree to this belief, or do you set a defense for the Truth?
I firmly believe if this threads initial post were that of the issue I explained above, the responses to this post and the defense would have been all together different. And rightfully so!
Shouldn’t Christians follow the example led by the Apostle Paul?
Why treat the Gospel of Jesus Christ less than the United States Constitution?
Have we as a society been blinded by religious fables and deities to no longer defend the Word of God?
Philippians 1:16-18
King James Version
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Colossians 1:22-24
King James Version
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
All knees shall bow.
I told no lie to my children or anyone elses children by telling them the truth about Nicholas or Jesus.
Agree with your perspective. Most of us have experienced at some point hearing a jealous or insecure woman say grossly distorted versions of some little thing someone else said or did.
I was eight when I starting asking about Santa being real. My dad could tell I’d kind of figured it out and because I had three younger siblings at the time (a fourth came along a couple of years later), he and my mom let me in on the secret. They didn’t want my questioning to get to the younger kids.
It made me feel special that my parents were trusting me with the big secret and I never let on anything to the little brother & sisters. When I got a little older, they even let me help put out the Santa stuff for the younger sibs late on Christmas Eve and then banish me so they could put my stuff out.
When I got even older, as a young adult living away from home and visiting for Christmas, I would wait until they finished the whole Santa thing and then sneak into the den, avoiding looking at my “section,” and put out stuff I’d gotten for Mom & Dad and slip a couple of things into their stockings as well.
And yes, the M-I-L in this story is a d-bag.
Is they now?
Have you never heard Santa referred to as Saint Nicholas or Old St Nick?
Saint Nicholas
This article is about the fourth-century Christian saint.
Santa is the personification of the spirit of giving. No more, no less.
My mother said that as long as you believe in Santa, you will continue to be visited by him.
On a side note, one year my dad’s brothers, who were older than him, got nothing for Christmas but coal and switches. I don’t know if it changed their behavior, but it made an impression on my dad.
Sadly, today you are one of the many freepers who post obscure references and acronyms most are unlikely to know, defeating your good intention to share a fun story.
In other words, "Huh?"
When my daughter was about 7 she said she didn’t believe in the Tooth Fairy. The Tooth Fairy never visited the house again. You can bet she never questioned Santa. She’s 38 now. Also at our house Santa always wrapped his gifts in the same paper with his picture on it and this paper was never used for any other gifts.
You’re sure making Christians look like judgemental jerks. Educate me? You have no idea who you are talking to. Keep em coming. I’ve got all week.
I tell random kindergartners that Krampus is going to kidnap them on Christmas.

I tell them that Kwanzaa is the real holiday and they will get electrical cords, soldering irons and possibly raped.
Wow, do you also make pretzels for a living? Because that’s some twisted piece of exegesis.
Nah, it’s a character defect.
Bottom line, all contact with the the MIL should be eliminated.
Post of the thread!!!
If you think it’s OK for the grandmother to contradict and interfere in the parents choices and decisions...
I bet you LOVE public schools telling children it’s normal for boys to dress up like girls and for drag queens to read perverted stories to little children.
I know that Christians are not supposed to embrace false gods. Santa Claus is a false god whom the whole world worships. If you’re on board with that then you’re anti Christ. It’s a fact that seems harsh but it’s truth.
1 Timothy 4:1,7
[1]Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
[7]But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.
Santa Claus and Xmas are fables that your Bible tells you to reject. It is deception built upon greed and rejection of Christ and his ways. WAKE UP.
I had an aunt who told me I was adopted before my parents did. Mom was really
pissed off. It was one of her sisters in law.

Your parents messed up. They should have told you even way before you understood what adoption even meant.
Your hubris seems to be unlimited. I’d say you’re getting really close to being suspended from this forum for awhile. Standing by...
