Each time the word ROCK is used in the Bible in reference to any providing of the people, it is used as God being the one provided. Here is the first verse in the Bible in the KJV showing just that.
(Exo 17:6 KJV) Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Who pointed out where the ROCK was? God did. What came out of the ROCK? Water, water to drink. Who is referred to as LIVING WATER, water that must be drunk to live eternally? Jesus.
(John 7:38 KJV) He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Each time the word ROCK is used, where God provides the ROCK, it is either a literal ROCK, like just above, where WATER came out of, water to allow the Isralites to live, it came from GOD, not a man.
No one says tradition is the only way to understand God but Jesus did say read the writings and the oral traditions...indeed there were no new Testament writings when he taught. The entire Bible is made from oral traditions and recorded in writing and divinely approved by the magisterial (Bishops) of Jesus’ church.
They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long, and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces and being called rabbi by others.
But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ. The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Catholics love to brag about how they *obey* Jesus about supposedly eating Him, Jesus even tells them that the flesh profits nothing, it is the Spirit which gives life (not the flesh which HE said does no good) and the Jesus goes on and tells them that He is using a metaphor.
John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
They were Christians...if you want you can consider them Messianic Jews, but they were no longer jews in the sense you want to imply.
Because God changed the order...at least if you believe the Bible was divinely made...assuming you’re correct about the “order”.

What a surprise.
The answer, of course, is that their whole house of cards would collapse if they removed Peter.
Imagine, trusting inn Jesus alone.
The audacity of those Prots. Don’t we know that we are to be respecters of persons and submit to the Roman hierarchy of clergy and *saints*, etc? In direct disobedience to yet another of God’s commands.
What rationalization, all supported by the opinion pieces of Catholic *early church fathers.*
You expressed that better than I would have.
And we’re supposed to trust the corrupt, immoral, homosexual, child abuse protecting Catholic hierarchy for a correct *interpretation* of Scripture?
And just where is that to be found? They’ve had almost 2,000 years to work on it and done almost nothing.
To be clear, I am not disputing Augustine’s writings. I merely find it amusing to see someone quote Augustine in an attempt to defend the concept of solo scriptura. Indeed, there are many here who are relying on their own traditions to defend that strange concept.
As it is, even scripture says it is not exhaustive of all truth. It is merely a record of all that one needs to know. See John 20:30.
Lastly, I have wasted enough time on this thread. I wish everyone peace.
—> The entire Bible is made from oral traditions
The scriptures were directly given by God as men were moved by the Holy Spirit to write His Word.
2/3 given before the birth of Christ.
1/3 given before 100ad while apostles were alive.
You sure can!
And you'd probably lose the bet.
Oh?
Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
What I seem to remember is Jesus stating THIS:
Matthew 15:2-6
“Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother is to be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,”Mark 7:5, 9-13
The Pharisees and the scribes *asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?”
...
He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, is to be put to death’; but you say, ‘If a man says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is to say, given to God),
So THESE are what keeps you guys in line??
And then shall be revealed the lawless one, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the breath of his mouth, and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his coming; even he, whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.
2 Thessalonians 2:8,9
I’m sorry, that simply is not all correct, its a little inaccurate part of truth. Where you are correct is all good has God’s hand in it...however, the Gospels were eye witness accounts 8n some cases passed down to be written others werewritten by the original eye witness. Something fun to ponder is how much of the New Testament came from the Holy Mother, Mary. It brings some relevance about her blessed and 7nique existence.
1 Corinthians 1:22 Douay-Rheims Bible
For both the Jews require signs, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
To: Wpin ...and preserved the authentic Bible through His holy Catholic Church. I think the Jews managed to preserve 2/3s of it. BTW; why doesn't Rome list the OT books the way Jerusalem does? |
There were Eucharistic miracles centuries before Luther decided he had the authority to correct God’s “errors”. You can distort Bible verses all you want...it’s called Sola Scritura. You create terology from your own personal interpretation. Satan loves that.
When the Messiah (Jesus) came those jews who didnot acknowledge it were and are in s8n...if you think about it Christians are God’s chosen people...the Jewish who accepted Jesus the Christ as God weren’t longer the same as those who didn’t. Think about ut...it’s fun to ponder.
Lol, no it’s biblically accurate and tradition as well. You do know there were many disciples who followed the originals ...actually they were given the same apostolic powers the originals were given at Pentecost. Even your founder, Luther understood the Eucharist as being the true body and blood of Jesus. Your beliefs came many many centuries after Jesus instituted the Sacrament. Do you really think God got it wrong?
HE did; eh?
And just WHO changed the writings to include CHAPTERS and VERSES?
