On the road for sales, not the first time. Let a homeless guy sleep in my truck for a night, not going to deny him shelter for a night. So his water bottle fell on my Laundry open and I failed to catch it. So I've a bunch of mold and mildew on half of the clothes in my laundry basket. The interwebs go into Borax, Oxygen Bleach, Vinegar and Baking Soda. Sorry, but with the loss of Misses Founded a couple years ago, not sure where to really go. Nice shirts, Khaki Pants ect. that I want to save. The Blue Jeans and other Shirts would be a bonus to save.
A big thanks, am in very rural Iowa at the moment, hotels are full and I'd like to save my clothes and can't call my girl on a cell. I'll be sexist here and thank the freeper gals with experience, if you guys got it fire away.
Be blessed and thank you! Founded
That’s racist to call it “colored.”
Tell that to the NAACP.
White Vinegar usually doesnt stain or bleach colors.
Just wash em in soapy water again. Dry ‘em good and hot. Hang them in the sun for awhile. *shrug*
Laundry detergent and vinegar if bleach can’t be used. Otherwise, hot water, detergent, and bleach. btw, I add vinegar to all my wash cycles. Cleans the clothes AND the washing machine.
Thank you, I always add vinegar as it’s a natural fabric softener with out the crap that clogs up the washer/dryer.
Well then I’m a racist, just a practical old school one. And no I don’t care. Be blessed!
Get some oxiclean and scrub some into the wet stains, then soak in washer over night. Check them before you put them in the dryer as heat sets stains. This worked on a towel my puppy threw up on - totally cleaned it to look like new!
And very nice for you to look out for someone down on their luck!!!!
Product: Oxygen Bleach
Oxygen bleach, like OxiClean or Biokleen Oxygen Bleach Plus, is chemically different from liquid chlorine bleach but also effectively eliminates mold stains from clothes and other fabrics. Oxygen bleach is color-safe but should not be used on wool, silk or leather.
How to Use It
For smaller mold stains, add two tablespoons of oxygen bleach to the washer along with your regular detergent. Pre-treat bigger or more set-in stains by mixing equal parts oxygen bleach and water and applying the paste to the stain prior to laundering as usual.
Bless and thank you!
True story:
I’ve fretted likewise over moldy clothes, towels & the like over the years.
By the time one of our dogs was becoming incontinent, I was dealing with regular soiled towels from messes, including rank mold (which is accelerated in the presence of organics).
It was at this time that I’d pulled the trigger on a GE front loader washing machine.
To the point: I was astonished that after ONE load the first batch of ammonia smelling, moldy towels came out not only clean (and mold spot free), but free of any mold smell whatsoever.
Bottom line: Don’t go overboard. If the mold hasn’t damaged the fabric and/or dyes, a good wash - with at most white vinegar (which I’ve used in the past on very, very soiled linen) - will likely get them clean.
Point of fact: Keep the moldy clothes wet and do NOT dry the clothes until they are clean (you may ‘set’ the mold and thereby destroy the clothing).
Not gonna deny a gomeless person your truck to sleep in!?? Youre a fkn moron...
Hydrogen peroxide works great and won’t bleach out colors. Use the spray and let the clothing sit for a while before washing.
Working out of truck for the next 2 days until I have a room. Doubt that I can soak them overnight at a laundry mat. Good advise and thank you! Be blessed!
Agree, don’t dry the clothes until you’re satisfied with the results. You can also try a nail brush and peroxide on stubborn areas.
Spray & Wash is good for removing stains.
Or, make a paste of baking soda and water and rub in the stains and let sit for 30 minutes or so before washing in hot water.
After reading the title, I thought it was going to be about what President Trump will need to do once he returns to the White House. And many other areas of the Deep State.
times like this I miss humblegunner...
