It still produces radiation but at a much lower level. Mostly Alpha and Beta, but some Gamma. The real problem is if it is aerosolized by penetrating armor, the dust can be inhaled.

Yup, it’s less radioactive than natural uranium ore plus it’s NOT going to be emitting gamma rays.

Brian Berletic from The New Atlas discusses this on one of his videos.

The problem with depleted uranium is not so much the residual radioactivity. The problem is the dust from a depleted uranium shell impact is highly toxic.
