It still produces radiation but at a much lower level. Mostly Alpha and Beta, but some Gamma. The real problem is if it is aerosolized by penetrating armor, the dust can be inhaled.

Good point. Also, dust can settle on surfaces downwind (surface contamination). But the dust disperses quickly in the environment. Particulate matter could be concentrated in puddles of rain water becoming mildly radioactive, ~10E-6 uci/ml.
But deleted uranium is less radioactive than uranium ore.
