Patriotism, religion and hard work hold less importance
Patriotism, religious faith, having children and other priorities that helped define the national character for generations are receding in importance to Americans, a new Wall Street Journal-NORC poll finds.
The survey, conducted with NORC at the University of Chicago, a nonpartisan research organization, also finds the country sharply divided by political party over social trends such as the push for racial diversity in businesses and the use of gender-neutral pronouns.
Some 38% of respondents said patriotism was very important to them, and 39% said religion was very important. That was down sharply from when the Journal first asked the question in 1998, when 70% deemed patriotism to be very important, and 62% said so of religion. The share of Americans who say that having children, involvement in their community and hard work are very important values has also fallen. Tolerance for others, deemed very important by 80% of Americans as recently as four years ago, has fallen to 58% since then.

I agree with EVERYTHING you said. You’re 100% correct.
Interesting that since it is all that the left preaches.
But they don't really believe in it. They want submission and capitulation, not true tolerance.
Their definition of tolerance is forcing you to agree with them and them not accepting any one else's point of view.
It’s hard to love America and be patriotic when it’s being run by fascist commie and Nazi pigs like JFB, Barry Soetoro, Eric the Holder, Merry Garland and other scum. Michiganderers are cheering that ditz bimbo Whitmer for taking away their freedom to work wherever they want to. They don’t have a right to get a job anymore unless the union bass turds can take away part of the workers paychecks for themselves.
I’d argue that this is still quite impressive considering the absolute assault on anything American. It’s also much better than many western nations, especially the UK.
I think we may have hit peak woketardism. Many young people are seeing how absurd much of this is.
heh
We live in an era where heterosexuals won’t get married and homosexuals insist on getting married. I would say MOST couples I know at my office haven’t and won’t have children.
by this time there were a lot of liberal professors...socialists/communists.
this is where bammy got his education and worldview.
couple that with the liberalism of the church and we can see the mess we're in now.
It's a solid biblical principal....you reap what you sow.
Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Catholics, Lutherans, Orthodox - all God’s children under the sun and moon. Those trinity-denying Christadelphians on the other hand…
old timey values that some of us still have and hold dear.
mostly, I believe that if you work hard, live a good life, obey the laws, you should be very successful in life and earn the best of life.....THAT is not happening....the lazy, the corrupt, the immoral, the criminal.......today's cultural beliefs reward these people...
I remember one girl in HS back in the late 60's who was pregnant....it was a BIG deal.....
not anymore....
the death of shame....
2. Politicizing knowledge — which is a defining characteristic of government-run schools — is a recipe for disaster.
3. Go and read some of the writings of John Dewey — one of the most influential figures in the history of public schools in the U.S. He was pretty open in his admission that public schools in the early 20th century should NOT be designed to educate children, but to train them as future industrial workers.
4. Whenever this subject comes up I am reminded of a remarkable comment I heard a few years ago (right around the time of the 2016 election) in an interview of former Clinton campaign advisor Mark Penn. He was asked what he thought was the most important cultural trend in the U.S. His answer was startling (especially for a leftist). He said the next generation of government and business leaders in the U.S. is now being home-schooled.
Where did anyone get this idea that American parents should be legally obligated to send their kids to government-run institutions where they must spend their days with all kinds of mutants and misfits?
