DC Rumor: Mitch McConnell Might Never Return to the Senate
Independent Sentinel ^ | - March 15, 2023 | By M Dowling

According to the NY Times, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell had been under observation since suffering a concussion during a fall on Wednesday. He also has a “minor rib fracture,” his office said. He’s off to rehab and rumor has it that he might never return.

Mitch McConnell could be sidelined.

A spokesman, David Popp, said that the lawmaker’s “concussion recovery is proceeding well” and that Mr. McConnell, 81, had been discharged from George Washington University Hospital, where he was taken after the accident at the Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

“At the advice of his physician,” Mr. Popp added in a statement, “the next step will be a period of physical therapy at an inpatient rehabilitation facility before he returns home.”

D.C.. resident and radio host Chris Plante said on his radio show this morning that Mitch is in rehab and might never return to the Senate. That would be great news, but then, who replaces him?

We wish him good health and happiness, but not as a Senate leader.

Who will replace him?

I am sure there are several senior Republicans who are on the payroll of the Chinese Communists, hate Donald Trump, and willing to subvert their leadership to Chuck Schumer.

If not, then we should look to the payroll of the Russians, working our way down to Drug Cartels, Ukraine, or Venezuela.

We should have plenty of candidates available.

Or we could go in another direction.

Remember when both of his hands turned bright blue? Very odd. This recent fall looks to bevthe straw that broke the camel’s back. A single incident — even a minor incident — can do that to the elderly . . .

What are the rules in his state for replacement? We are losing a vote - a very bad thing for court vacancies.

I seem to recall succession rules were changed to prevent a Dem from appointing a Dem.

Yes, I remember and his skin overall look worse now. I’ve thought for awhile that he would last much longer.

Not necessarily good. The Kentucky Governor picks who is next and the Kentucky Governor is a Democrat. No matter what you think of his choice, ‘he’s a conservative or middle of the road’ dem the dems vote en bloc.

That was apparently some tumble! It’s amazing how often that happens to politicians—those strange accidents. I guess it could be because of their average age and the fact that the elderly suffer from falls quite often.
