As we reported, a Department of Energy report said the theory that COVID leaked from the Chinese Wuhan Institute of Virology is the “most likely” explanation for its emergence.
This is something that many have pointed to for a long time, but if you said it you could be accused of spreading conspiracy theories and booted off of social media. Infuriated Republicans are demanding answers and the House has launched an investigation into the origins.
As we noted, here’s what House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said on the Committee’s website about the Wuhan Institute of Virology and its origins.

Now Chinese virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan has gone even further on Tucker Carlson’s show, saying that the DOE finding was important, but also that there was more to the story.

Yan said:
“Of course, it was not an accident,” she responded.
“Maybe for people who don’t have this kind of biosafety lab three or four [years] experience on coronavirus, maybe it’s easy for them to accept the accident lab leak. However, I’m a scientist, working in [a] research lab using coronavirus. And I can tell you, based on the print protocol and also the other surveillance system, it would be impossible for the lab leak [to] accidentally happen in such [a] lab and cause the Wuhan outbreak and also the pandemic,” Yan said.
“So definitely now we just reached the first step. It was from China’s lab, and we need to pursue the truth of origin, and we need to keep going on.”
She went on to explain:
Yan said based on the evidence she has seen and the source she has spoken to, the virus was “intentionally brought out of this strict lab and released in the community.”
“However, I don’t think the outbreak in Wuhan was intentional. I would say it was because [the] CCP government and the military scientists underestimated the transmissibility,” she added. “That’s why finally it got out of control and the cost [was] a local outbreak. However, we should know that [the] CCP government intentionally let it go all over the world to kill millions of people all over the world later.”
As we reported at the time, China let flights from Wuhan travel all over the world, after already knowing what was going on. On January 14, 2020, the WHO was also carrying water for China, saying that the Chinese had found no clear evidence of human to human transmission, which was untrue.
Yan was a virologist at the Hong Kong School of Public Health and she began noticing the cases coming from the mainland indicating that there was human-to-human transmission. She told her supervisor on Jan. 16, 2020, right around the time Chinese officials were still trying to lie about it, and he warned her “to keep silent, and be careful,” “Don’t touch the red line,” he said. “We will get in trouble, and we’ll be disappeared.”
Their behavior indicates they spread it deliberately.
They shut down travel internally. But continued allowing flights to other countries.
It gained its foothold in Italy and entered the US later.
I don’t believe this. I think it was accidental.
If it had been ready and deliberate, it would have worked better.
This is as crazy as that Wuhan lab conspiracy theory from three years ago. Do you think DC will wait three years on this conspiracy theory before they begin to leak the fact that this one is true too?

If so-called SARS-CoV-2 virus nonsexist, there’s no lab leak. No virus originated from Wuhan.

Oh there's picture of the virus? Really? But the electron microscope built originally in 1930's still black and white or grayscale. The pictures in the internet are all computer graphics.
Imagine that there’s a minor oil spill off the coast of California. No humans are hurt, but a few seagulls die.
All hell would break loose! Congressional committees would demand answers. Companies would be held liable. CNN and MSNBC commentators would go nuts.
But now we have a China virus that has killed millions. Millions! No one much cares about that. No one demands any details. Instead, let’s all see what Harry and Meghan are up to this week.
I find this to be very depressing. And I can only conclude that Chinese money is calling the shots here.
She says the virus was brought out of a strict lab, and accidentally released. Not that the Chinese government released it deliberately, those were Tucker's words. The Chinese government is still responsible for creating the virus and its mishandling of the initial outbreak.
Yes, it looks like they spread it deliberately — after it accidentally escaped from that leaky lab in Wuhan.

She’s been saying this for years. Used to appear on Steve Bannon’s show regularly about 2 and a half years ago.
I’m not convinced she’s accurate though about an intentional release. Most studies I’ve seen show the lab employees all came down sick about October 2019.

The causes, cover ups, corruption and mishandling of treating it are separate from its discovery.
Thanks. I just listened to the clip, and yes, her English is not the best. She seemed to say that the virus could not have escaped that lab, then seems to say it was intentionally taken out of the lab, but they did not understand how easily transmissible it was and it got out hand. Doesn’t really make sense.

We know the lab was leaky. We know they were messing around with those viruses in BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs. We know lab workers were sickened in the fall of 2019, too. Everything points to accidental leak — thanks to playing GoF with dangerous viruses in the first place, doing so in a leaky lab and not following protocols. An accident waiting to happen, yes, but still an accident.

Completely agree. And these claims are from 2.5 years ago from Steve Bannon's show, when they were trying to deflect from gain of function being re-instated under Trump, and pin covid and all the gain of function research on the Chinese, alone.
Why now, then? My guess is it's just more attempts to divert the blame, but there may be some new news coming soon, or they expect this to be a new line of attack against Trump, which caused them to dust off these old claims.
Sorry I wasn’t very clear. As best I could understand her, she said it was *deliberately* brought out of the lab, then accidentally released because they did not know at the time how transmissible it was. Doesn’t make sense. And doesn’t match up with what we know.

Before you can run genome sequencing, SARS-CoV-2 needed to be isolated and purified as pure state, and even if they claim someone able to run genome sequencing, they'd need to prove contagion by satisfying the Koch's Postulate if it can cause disease to healthy volunteer host.
And electron microscope image can only be black and white or grayscale, if you ever peep a specimen under the electron microscope, whatever floating high resolution image for the alleged SARS-CoV-2 are computer graphics.
