Tell the fire departments too. Cops and fire often don’t trade info.

Be sure and physically visit the local shelters/humane societies. We lost a dog once and called them and they said he wasn’t there, but we drove there just in case and he was there.
He was microchipped too, and they didn’t check.

Thanks, but our fire department is basically 1 guy, everyone else is volunteer and that’s only about 10 active. I know it’s hard to grasp how rural parts of New England can be, the three towns around here comprise less than 3000 residents.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately the nearest shelter is 20 miles away 2 towns over. We are still searching the woods right now there are no fresh tracks.
