I suspect Tyrmand just destroyed his brand with conservatives. He took bad advice from lefties. That seems to happen a lot.

Tyrmand's father was a Polish dissident who came to the states and started the magazine now known as Chronicles. The younger Tyrmand, like Buckley's son, may run in more liberal circles.
